What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

^^^ Thanks. I've been wondering if I should waste the time on that one.

Kum &Go needs to understand that they need to leave that piece of concrete alone. They will be a lot happier if they do because then they won't be sleeping with the fishes. :D

That last one has Reddy Kilowatt on it so the neon is just a bonus. Reddy is the coolest old advertising mascot in captivity all on his own.

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

I got a "compliment" from a pretty young girl a week or so ago. Long story, but I ended up helping to run a public swimming pool this summer. I was helping one of the young ladies with a new to her task. When she had completed it I said "there you go, I knew you could do it." Her reply was...

One of my favorites regarding this is a skit with Don Ameche and Gracie Allen. Gracie is all aflutter with meeting Don and tells him to "make love to me". Don asks "What about George?" Gracie replied "No, make love to me!" Can't do it justice without hearng it, but I laugh every time I do.

o_O She's definitely an attention getter, but Ho-Made? I can't see my wife being thrilled about stopping for dessert.

What was the last TV show you watched?

The first episode of The Winds of War. I hadn't watched it probably since it was on the first time. It was great then and still is, though Robert Mitchum still needs to tape Polly Bergen's mouth shut. What an annoying character she is.

Forgotten Advertising Characters of the Era

^^ Not directly related, but this reminded me of the Union 76 antenna balls. There was another promotion that involved getting a banana on your antenna when you bought gas but I can't think of what oil company ran that one.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I know Tom Poston wasn't always George Utley, but I'm still amazed that Suzanne Pleschette was actually his wife.

What was the last TV show you watched?

Exactly. It's good that their library is so large, because 90% of it is garbage.

    The Agents of F.L.A.S.K.

An acquaintance of mine worked with a group who sifted through literally tons of soil samples on a 4 lane highway project a few years back. One of the things they found were several Spanish coins from long before anybody but Indians were supposed to be here. There was a lot of debate at the...

What was the last TV show you watched?

Mad Men really went off the rails for me when they started Don off on the path of introspection and self discovery. He was the ba***rd you loved to hate and they ruined that.

    What's For Breakfast...

Indeed. Some of my favorite memories from childhood involve eating breakfast with my grandparents. Breakfast at home was catch as catch can and a bowl of cereal was about as good as it got and was equivalent to leftover chocolate cake. We could have whatever we wanted as long as we fixed it...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Part of the reason for why certain behaviors are seldom seen in the areas where they supposedly come from (at least according to movies and TV) is that somebody will "wear you out" if you engage in those behaviors. I am familiar with the practice of rolling coal, but it is something far more...

Show us your Thrift and/or yard sale finds

I love those Libbey wildlife glasses. I have a new bunch I'm watching for now. Jif peanut butter had jars that became glasses with dogs on them. They are like large versions of the jelly jars from years ago. They seem to be tougher to come by at least so far.
