Che and Eric, Beautiful hats! I'm fortunate to have two in Silverbelly from Art. One is dress weight and the other is lightweight. Even though the heat has been awful here I've actually been wearing the lightweight some. The felt on it is incredible. -

Since I like a cattleman's crease I could live with the new ones too if they had an extra 1/4". The way they are now they hit the top of my head and they are too stiff do anything about it. -

It's hard to tell from the picture but that looks like 3/8" clear coated cable. You can probably buy it at Home Depot or Lowes back where the chains and ropes are located. I know for sure you can buy it at Tractor Supply Stores. -

I notice that too but since the Campdraft is 5 1/2" open crown I think he should able to bash a crown anyway he wants. The Stetson Stratoliner you recommended are nice too. I have never worn mine in any rain though so I don't know how it would hold up. I do know the Campdraft and all the other... -

If you are not going to go the custom route I would recommend an Akubra Campdraft in Silverbelly. The color goes with anything and since it is an exact copy of a Stetson Open Road it would look right at home in Texas. -
