You know, I didn't think so, but everyone has been telling me I lost weight lately. No matter what I wear, I keep getting comments.
However, it shoudl be noted that I'm between sizes, and my build prevents me from wearing the snugger size. So most of my clothes are slightly big to start...
Well, by some twist of fate, none of the photos that included the homburg came out. But at least I have a shot of the tux.
For those scratching their heads about why this reads as if a continuation of another conversation... it is. A while ago I was putting together a summer tux & homburg...
Actually, I have found that homburgs were, back in the day, soft. Only bowlers were hard. I have handled several vintage homburgs that were amazingly soft. The Stetson St. Regis (which looks much like the one in the clip) is has a softer crown than most vintage fedoras I've encountered! :D
Looks to be a homburg with a front pinch. I've seen a number of these in 7 1/2 on ebay this year. Most of them go higher than I want to pay, but they are out there. For some reason, larger sized vintage homburgs seem more common than fedoras. [huh]
At any rate, Art Fawcett may be able to...
When I spoke to John about his rabbit felt, he told me that they were slightly higher quality (or grade or some such term :eusa_doh: ) than Akubra's Fed deluxe is made from, but softer in feel. Basically, as long as some horrible tragedy does not befall a good rabbit felt hat, all it should...
Sorry. The Stetson comment was intended as a rough comparison, not to imply that the hat is actually a Stetson. It is a Dorfman Pacific. I see how my words could be misread. :o
Nope. I would like that one, and would have had it serviced rather than sell it. This one - which did not sell this time around - is the $110 version. Basically, a stiff stetson dress hat (more or less).
So, it's still available if anybody wants it. :D
I've been out of the loop a few days, and the first thing I find on my return is this! Perhaps there is hope for the human race after all. lol Very nice of you, Goose.
That is a custom Penman. It might be a little out of your price range, but if you could manage about $225 + shipping and a 3 month wait, you could get a rabbit felt (Akubras are rabbit felt, but Penman uses a higher quality). If you wanted that exact hat, just drop my name. The color is...
Was the hat that the cat destroyed black? If so, then I would go with black. If not, then perhaps whatever color it was would be best.
Another important question; What color suits does he usually wear? That's actually more important than the overcoat.
As for the Fed IV, it is a great...
I have this running on ebay right now, size large;

Thanks for looking.
Welcome, indeed. I feel your pain about the picture posting. It took me a while to sort it out back in the day, but trial and error remains the best learning tool! But here's a hint, in case you haven't been clued in yet - you need a photo hosting account. I had no idea what that was until...
I concur with Matt. They are tough to find, but they are out there. South Street may have the best price, too.
If Oscar can't get it, try these guys. I know nothing about them, but I've bought (quite happily) from South Street...
