I hear you about the role reversals, Edward. Mine rolls her eyes at me all the time - and yet, just this morning, my lady is asking me what-to-wear-with-what as she's started a new job and has spent $$$$ on new clothes for the new office … and this morning, it's "boots or shoes with this dress?"...
Oh yes, Monitor. Nobody hardly ever notices a soundtrack as it's contribution is quite subliminal by comparison to others, adding subtle tension or atmosphere. Watch it again - and you'll notice that the Godawful soundtrack begins so clumsily and sets off at a full gallop - and you can almost...
I suspect there is in most fellas around here who have a "significant other opinion" in the home …! I have - and apparently a C-3, B-3, Irvin and B-6 all look the same.
But I like Enough's jackets there. Really nice.
I totally agree, Monitor. I mean, when you even notice that the soundtrack is awful (like a bad made-for-video late-80's action flick), you know it's a clunker. I mean, really - when was the last time you even noticed a soundtrack?! It's all painful.
But the jackets and patches are worth the...
Red Tails is quite simply the worst war movie ever made IMHO. Utterly deplorable. And that's coming from someone who enjoyed Pearl Harbor ! I know.
But for anyone around here, I'd say it really should be seen for its one and only redeeming feature, namely the costuming, which is fantastic. The...
Wow. What an unexpectedly interesting thread this turned out to be …! Some folk around here really know their kung-fu! And therein lies the beauty of the F.L. :)
And in stark contrast to all the recent jackets here with a plethora of badges, this is my ELC 1942 pattern Irvin - with its one pin. It's an RCAF Association pin that a pal of mine FOUND and he gave it to me - and it's really nice, so I put it on the belt in honour of the Canadians who served...
Yes, the jerkins were fairly ubiquitous, but I just googled "WW2 RAF ground crew" and came upon this image - not a regular jerkin as it has a belt on the reverse … so possibly?

Well, Orvis seemed to think so:

This is the vest - there is a long sleeved jacket too. But the general reviews I read were poor due to the thin lambskin.
This is all that remains of my first A2 - by Aviation Leathercraft from 1987.
I painted the back panel - copying the front cover of Roman Holliday's "Stand By" 12" single - and this was my first attempt at jacket art.
And when it was time to retire the jacket after 18 years of wear, I cut out...
Nice one, Edward - those are some very cool jackets ! Not my thing at all usually, but damn, they look fantastic ! :)
Thanks for the kind words too. Cheers, mate.
Do a pastiche of that image but with a 1940's Gil Elvgren type lady in a 1950's kitchen - but with our dogs and "Snack Time" in the same font ! Oh, that'd be a hoot ! LOL !
