    Opinion on a Straw

    :D You can get a "colored" Cuenca Panama hat for around $30.00 from Panamabob. Just ask him... I like the natural off white color it will take on a nice patina over time and the hat has no stiffner in it to crack the straw.

    Straw Hat refurbishing...

    Easy... Just steam it and if needed press it with a iron with a towel between the brim and the iron. A Montecristi Panama hat has a memory and usually a little steam is all it will need.

    I would say from the picture it is a paper product covered with resin or a plastic hat. Just a note for $30.00 you can buy a real Cuenca Panama hat from Robert Weber and its real straw. http://www.panamas.biz/index.html He gives us a much better price than even his web site.
