It just proves you don't have to spend a ton of money on a Panama hat. That Cuenca model looks great on you and really fits your face... Nice hat Mark!:eusa_clap :) :eusa_clap
Terminology comes from ?
Milanette: (China)
Twisted, coated paper yarn used in inexpensive straw hats, often made from recycled materials. Also Chinese twisted paper.
3 inch brim
I have the one with the 3 inch brim. It looks just like the picture on the web site. I got it one size larger and the fit is great. I wear a 59 so I got a 60..
Optimo Block...
The same as everyone else's. Normal crown heights are 4 to 4 1/8 inch before blocking. Brims range from 2.5 to 3 inches. If you have specific need he can quote a price and do his best to get the length or height exact.

Hemingway Jones joins GQ...
Mr.Jones,
Your Montecristi is a typical hat body that Panamabob can get for us. The block by Art Fawcett is a 1940's with the crown taller in the front than the rear. I'd say you got the perfect hat for your features and it will only look better with time... :D...
Kinda like the X factor on bever fur felt hat body's

BTW...the inside of the crown is marked with the number "8". Does this have any particular significance?
Well it depends...
First, let's explore the numeric "hat grades." A seller might say his hats are Grade 8. Or Grade...
My size..
Great looking hat... The hat is a Cuenca Panama and yes its very old. The straw has taken on the great honey color of aged straw. I love the patina these hats take on over time.
One tip on older straw hats. Take it into the bathroom and block the bottom of the door and steam it...
Just great...
Karol,
Can't wait to see your new custom hat. I was just thinking we are so lucky to have found the Fedora Lounge. If not we would not have found such great hat and cap makers.:D :eusa_clap :D Plus a ton of new friends.
My favorite Montecristi Panama hat. Mr Bogey...
Here is one of mine. This Montecristi is 2000 plus wpsi. The hat was blocked by Master Hatter Mr. Art Fawcett and its blocked on a Bogey block.
Panamabob searched for over 7 months to find this hat body for me...
I have one and love it.
300 wpsi will be a great hat not to floppy and will be cooler than one with more wpsi.
Here is one of mine close to what you are buying. This was blocked by Art Fawcett...

Facts as I know them.
The problem with most Ebay sellers of this type of hat is they are not real Montecristi Panama hats. They will say Montecristi and when you get your hat its really a Cuenca hat...or a very low grade Montecristi.
I'm sure if you wrote this seller and ask her about...
