Methinks it wasn't just the wear and tear they got in the confines of an aircraft with all the metal edges and hardware to rough them up. I think it was the abuse and battering they took being worn as a free winter jacket for post-war winter chores with no thought of conditioning. I came across...
I agree with Plumbline. If I were you, I'd go for the ANJ-4. I tried one on at RAF Duxford in the ELC QM tent back in June and was struck by how it wasn't bulky - and was beautifully tailored and fitted me perfectly. I'd have one in a heartbeat if anything ever happened to my B-3. Yes, they're...
Nice jackets indeed, Plumbline!
Hi Damo,
I can't speak for an Aero B-6 per se, but I have an ELC RW B-6 and this week I wore my Aero C-3 as a gilet over it for the pre-dawn dog walks. Here in T.O. it was -8C but feeling more like -18C with the wind-chill as you'll know. I've always...
You're absolutely right, Dr. Damage. The images out of Buffalo, NY are unbelievable. 8 deaths so far - and one poor fella died when he was trapped in his car under 8 ft of snow… I can't imagine the horror of it. Awful. Poor guy.
And they're in for a BIG thaw this weekend too = MAJOR flooding...
I wore my ELC RW B-6 plus my Aero C-3 as a gilet over it on the pre-dawn dog walk. Should have worn the Irvin.
And the flannel-lined jeans.
But hey - looking on the bright side, at least I'm not being dined on by f-ing mosquitoes anymore -- This year's been a bad one for them. I'll take this.
Yikes. It's that same misty cold that one only normally sees in a deep freezer!
It's -19C (with the wind-chill) here again in T.O. with snow this afternoon and it's still 33 days to the official start of Winter ! I got my steel-studded snow tires fitted on my mountain bike last night so I'm...
I think it's a very pleasing design and very well done.
But if it was me, I'd make my own stencil and paint it on myself in oils and acrylics. That way I wouldn't be trusting anything to a decal; especially when it came to my jacket.
The only retailer in the US is History Preservation Associates in Cherry Hill, NJ.
But please don't think that I'm steering you away from a Schott and to an ELC. The point I was making is that I think it's wise to try and be open-minded about making a good choice and that may mean opting for...
I ride my mountain bike here to work in all four seasons - right through Winter if possible and the coldest I've done it in is -37C. And when it gets that cold, I pull out my best pair (of which i have a few) and they are the Pearl Izumi "lobsters". Supreme warmth...
Hi Talos,
I think you've had excellent advice here from everyone - and if I may, I would kindly ask that you try to consider seeing beyond things such as mere colour as a criteria for your selection. There's a lot more to these things, as you're becoming aware.
I would firstly echo what...
I've just had a look at the Cirrus website for Talos and his B3 hunt - and came across this! Might be useful to you, Worf…?

Great comments, Big J. Thoughtful, well composed and respectful. If ever there was a good and worthwhile derailment of a thread, you just made it. I feel as though I've learned something entirely new today, and that's never a bad thing. Nice one.
And perhaps I'm wrong here, it was always my belief that the USA intentionally tried to re-cast Japan in its own image after WW2 in order to steer it in to to becoming a permanent ally … I mean, look at the baseball there! It's all American. So if that's true, it makes sense that that era...
Indeed. I do consider them to be cost-prohibitive as a rule (and I had to factor in the US/Canadian dollar exchange rate too - add another 10%)… but when they have that one certain style you want, and you only want one, one time (observing the "Buy Cheap: Buy Twice" rule) and you want it right...
But I think it's a question of supply and demand. As Edward points out, it's finding all of the products in the range that's available. I had a look on HPA and the N2-A isn't there either.
So if it's a new N2-A someone's after and in that blue and by Buzz Rickson, it's what you'd have to pay to...
Thanks BN - and thanks to each of you for all the kind comments, guys!
Yes, now I can appreciate nylon again, I think a nice N3-A would be great and I'm hunting for one. After last Winter (which was nothing less than brutal), in case we have another one like that (and we're forecast to), I was...
