    It seems there's no one answer to this, as peoples' experiences differ. I have both vintage and regular and in my case the vintage is seems marginally thinner but noticeably stiffer, particularly in the arms, although that may be down to the specific sections of hide used. Vintage looks better...

    Yeah, don't hang about. I had a similar thing last year BC and by the time I emailed later in the day the jacket was made. Naturally it was too long and was a real hassle to get sorted and remade.

    I think the standard length for a 42 would be 25.5 Max. As a matter of interest, when did you place the HWM order? I'm kind of surprised it went out the door under the current regime if they knew your height.

    Without knowing Layman's height, I'd say that was possibly deliberately specced long. Normally a HWM would sit above the back pockets, I think. FWIW, a 40" has a standard back length of 25", as I understand it.

    I thought the cord was also to prevent the lining from sagging under the hem, which some people used to complain about. That was my thinking when I got it.

    Jl, it's just natural, probably more so with stiffer hides. I suspect long sleeves somewhat self-correct by being forced back and wrinkling, possibly partly due to resting against the hand. I'm sure there was a thread about it with some really extreme wrinkles.

    Definitely wouldn't worry about the sleeves. Just checked my Teamster with the double cuffs and they've lost an inch since I got it in June.

    I wouldn't let weight worry you. My Stockman weighs less than a pound more than my 1.75" shorter Teamster, which is a cross I willingly bear. As it happens, I'm finding I wear my Stockman more, although reducing the length to 30" probably helped. Fanch - surely to goodness your Teamster...

    Absolutely right Fanch. I'm not struck on the open chest pocket on the Stuart, but the 4 button look is definitely preferable to me. My standard Teamster has a relatively narrow front, which is why I think it might meet Schitzo's requirements on a shorter version. That could be very tempting.
