Depends on the jacket, and on the era your patch are from.
I have no problem with someone wearing an A-2, G-1, MA-1, L-2 or whatever with patches from WW2/Korea/Vietnam. This, to me, is paying respect to those guys, not trying to pass for a veteran. I agree with Otter on the ranks/combat awards...
Well, Spitfire already told you about Dark Blue World and the Battle of Britain. Both of them are really good, specially BoB. I love those old, non CGI movies!
Here's a couple I'd really recommend:
- Tora! Tora! Tora! : Not an aviation movie per se, but really great flying scenes in this...

Not flight jackets, but the patches on the flight suit may give a good idea about the placements used...
Totally agree with you on the iconic status of the MA-1! Would be interesting to see the patches you've got on hands.

BTW, I don't think the MA-1 was widely used there, way too hot for the tropical climate. An L-2B would...
Thanks for the head up! Problem is, I still don't fully understand what a hookless zipper is, what's the difference with a regular one. The only thing I understood is that they are sort of a pain in the a$$ to zip.
Hello folks,
Can you please tell me what's the difference between the regular Talon zipper and the Hookless Talon zipper? What would be the best to use on a 38-1711-P A-2?
I can't agree with you, Big J. With my 195cm height, 26 inches is way above my belt...
Have a look at this Aero 38-1711: http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/product-detail.php?id=2180
Sleeve length is 25', body length is 27', and the jacket doesn't look out of proportions at all.
Best present ever, if you ask me ;-)
I don't know if they were issued with the 30rds, but there's pictures of US soldiers in Korea and Vietnam with M1 and M2 with 30rds, as well as some french soldiers in Indochina. I guess most of them must have been M2, but the M1 will do for some fun. Plus...

USM1 carbine, built by Saginaw by the end of '43. It has the original flip up sight, as well as high wood hand guard. The only non original part is the 3rd type barrel band with bayonet...
