I'd agree, Worf - but really, in this day and age of the internet and unrivalled research ability, how did they think they'd get away with a fraudulent marketing lie in saying a company had been around since 1922 and branding all their gear with 1922 - when it was actually 2000?
I suppose the...
I just think it's a really interesting article on the power of marketing to the (younger) masses and how truth and integrity are sacrificed for appearance and perception (and profit!).
Such are the days in which we live … alas.
So here we are at our last stop before we get busy and take an indelible step forward ...
Up to now, it's all been quite exciting and fanciful wishful thinking - but harmless. And we're about to cross that threshold, so I thought I'd add just a few final words on painting before we do that, so...

Oh look! By startling coincidence, Mitsubishi apologizes for its use of Allied slaves in the war. They must have seen this thread on them!

After Iron Man 3, I'm done with Tony Stark (and to call the film Iron Man? The Iron Man suit was barely in it - it was all Tony Stark - and I'd stopped caring for him by the merciful end). What a totally ruinous script!!! And as if that wasn't bad enough, the utterly nonsensical plot and effects...
Not lame at all, IMO - I'd just give it a lot of thought and research into how you'd work it on a jacket and make it look cool … 'cos painting on a jacket is like getting a tattoo - once on, it's not coming off - but you can always paint over it.
As for your assumption on your girlfriend...
Thanks a lot, Monitor! That's kind of you to say. I'm glad someone's enjoying it. :)
I'm working to get the other parts up ASAP. I had to come in to work yesterday (Sunday) to get those three up as my old PC (which is tired and slow at the best of times) wasn't up to it at home - so I crossed...
Well, as I said, you could get a small stretched and mounted canvas from an art shop (very inexpensive) and a small starter set of paints and have a test run and see what happens - and if it goes well, you would have a small piece of art to hang in the bathroom (as my original Stand By does...
Absolutely!
This is why I intentionally entitled this thread How To Paint On A Leather Jacket - and not How To Paint WW2 Pin-up/Nose Art on an A2- these basic principles can be transferred to any jacket to paint whatever you want - say, BSA, Triumph or Norton on the back of a biker jacket - or...
So ...Painting (and, as I'm limited to 10,000 words per thread, this is in two parts to illustrate what I'm on about).
In WW2, the nose and jacket art works were done with whatever paint was to hand on the base. This was usually enamel or similar oil-based paint and in limited supply and so...

So my first design for Lucky Dog (on paper) ...
But - suddenly- I was unhappy with the “L” and felt that it needed to be bigger … and I didn't like that the "Lucky" was angled but straight - I wanted it angled and...

How To Paint On A Leather Jacket, Part 1: Inspiration
Around here, we all love our WW2 flying jackets and the A2 in particular.
And some of us also love the nose- and jacket-art that adorned the fighters and bombers of the era too and the squadron patches and the fighter/bomb group patches and...
