So here we are at last - painting Lucky Dog on the back panel of my Aero ANJ-3 and, like the mission tally marks, we begin with painting a white base in acrylic paint. This is no different to what you've seen so far - it just expands on the same principles.

Quite alright.
It is disappointing how the press/mass media is often misleading with the truth in the name of sensationalism or their own agenda. It's everywhere and I see it all the time here in Canada too, alas; in what gets reported - or not at all.
Cheers.
Well, thank you for the correction (I'm always happy to be corrected if I'm in error. It's all part of the learning process and I really enjoy TFL for what I learn here). That's very good to know and I would go as far as to say that I'm very relieved to learn that the story appears to be...
Interesting to see - and check out the "slide" on the photos where you place your mouse on the bar and move it left and right to reveal the scene then and today. Not seen that before...
Fantastic looking jacket! Really nice! Ah, and a new illustrated catalogue as well, I see … The new Golden Book 2.0 ?
The jacket looks so great, in fact, that I almost missed the amazing scenery in the background …!
Thanks for posting.
Just read this article on the ill-fated USS Indianapolis - and I see that the tale is to be committed to film in two up-coming movies …
A terrible tragedy - and the cover-up for so long just adds insult to injury. At least the truth is out at last. It's really something that it took a kid in...
I agree. It also teaches/reminds us all to look differently - and more deeply - at those seemingly ordinary people around us (as everyone has a story - and the old look old on the outside but are often still young on the inside) …
And Ricky Gervais said it perfectly as Derek when he spoke of...
Oh, my girlfriend and I are Jones-ing to get to the next episode (Season 2, Ep. 2).
At the end of the last episode of Season 1, I tell you, I don't mind admitting that we both had tears running down our faces and I was a whisker away from bawling like a little girl! Sheer joy.
And THAT is the...
I love the jacket, man. I think you nailed the insignia and it really adds to it - and as for the fit, it looks perfect to me. If anything, I think it just looks new - and will look better when it wears in and develops more drape and conforms to your body and movement - and the collar settles...
I'd agree, Jim B - Orvis cater to guys who like a certain look and appreciate details, but who aren't super-fussy about the more authentic historical details as we are around here. So they sell jackets like their N-1-inspired Naval jacket. I think it looks rather nice, myself! Most Orvis...
Thanks Monitor!
I'm very glad to know you're feeling inspired! I'll try and get the next part out in the next day or two and you'll see how those basic techniques are expanded on to something more advanced - but it's the same basic idea. You'll see …! ;)
Thanks for the kind comments as usual! :)
The thing is with a stamp - we never know what we'll be rescuing next, so I don't know how the pet will be represented. You'll see the decoy mission on there - that's a parrot that a guy was wanting to re-home as he was leaving the country and going back...
I agree Vespizzare, I too think they are expensive and over-priced as a rule.
But it pays to be very patient and wait until these things end up in the sale sections - and hold fire and then wait again until they have a clearance sale promo weekend and they add an extra 25% off the sale prices -...
I've been an Orvis customer for a while and notice that, in all their catalogs, all their flying jackets are made in New York, NY - so who'd that be? That's the question.
Thanks for saying so!
My inspiration was actually Fine Scale Modeller magazine! They present how-to guides beginning with a section of text - and then a series of photos that illustrates the points in the text. They really work for me as I'm a visual kind of guy (too much text can bore me) and I...
