I wish ALL makers of fine jackets well, I truly do. I think that we, as customers, have never been better served with quality jackets - especially compared to the not-so-distant past whereby there was no internet and just catalogues sent by snail mail and 'phone calls - and I wish every single...
OMG. Yet another beautiful redskin B-3! Thanks for posting!
Having second thoughts about your ANJ-4 yet, Sloan?! :)
Sloan, I know you have an Irvin but will this be your first USAAF sheepskin jacket?
I agree about the oxygen mask clip. It adds a touch of panache and interest to the jacket, and was unique to the ANJ-4 but not all of them.
I'm not sure the bison would agree with your other statement though! ;)
Hmmm.
At first sight, I thought not - but now you ask and the more I look at it, Sloan, I'm not so sure. Quite possibly? It could just be the light/camera - it's hard to be sure, but maybe? The cuffs do look different to the pocket on the front shot.
Incredible thickness and plushness of fleece...
Beautiful.
What a testament to these types of jackets and why we all admire them like we do. They just keep on ticking for decades and look better with age. Like I always say, it's not so much how long they'll last - but who you'll leave them to!
Thanks for that!
Well, thanks Fanch! :)
I think aboittoir is a common enough name in the UK - but imagine if that name had gone clean over my head and, blissfully unaware, I'd taken her home !!! Crikey. I'd say I'd dodged a bullet there - but it's more than that, as there's not much dodging to be done against...
I think you nailed it on the head. The novelty of the caramel ANJ-4 would wear off in time - but an original type would be timeless style, and it's why they (and A2s and B-6s etc) all endure changing fashions and trends.
LOL! I never thought about my body disappearing! You're so right! At the time, I was just thinking of long knives and a bloody apron! It was as far as my imagination would let me go.
I'm sure the russet stitching will be a very nice, distinct - yet subtle - touch, and will do just that.
I really...
Russet stitching? I've not seen that. Hopefully you can grab a close-up photo for us when you get the jacket.
As for the affair thing, I've never had one. But I was on a first date one time with someone I'd been chatting up for ages at the hospital where I worked, and we were in a pub in...
I'd not seen that caramel ANJ-4 before - and although I prefer historical accuracy by nature, I must say, that one looks rather okay to me! I think the caramel facings would wear and darken nicely ... different. I like it.
But then you posted that photo of a bad-a$$ on the bike there - and now...
BULLS-EYE !! I'd be thrilled with that!
Great photos and review. Thanks for posting! Looks fantastic and I'm glad for you that you finally have the jacket you always hankered and hunted for. Brilliant.
Speaking of armoured gear, I read that the spinal armour that is ubiquitous these days was, in fact, invented by former British motorcycle racing champion Barry Sheene. He had some spectacular crashes back in the day and, whilst banged up, mused about protection and it came to him that if he...
And after what I said earlier, Sloan made a good point here, Ozarkian; that if you like the look of LW jackets, you can ask for samples of swatches but the proprietor no longer mails them out (so no cash being frittered away there then, either!) - but I'd say in all fairness that that doesn't...
Welcome Ozarkian - and Gints too!
As Gints is asking about a civilian jacket, I'll leave that to the many others around here who have tonnes of experience and keen interest in that genre - it's not my field as a rule.
As for military A2's, Ozarkian, well, you've never been more spoilt for...
