    The Blues

I'd love to hear that! I love their rescoring of the '31 Dracula! Did I post a link before to the Uncensored History of the Blues podcast? http://www.deltabluesmuseum.org/high/podcast.asp It is excellent, but you've been warned, not for the faint of heart!

    Twitter?

I've been working desk jobs most of my professional life and in the process built up a retardedly massive group of "friends" on myspace. It was a terrific tool for connecting with friends & people that might be interested in coming to my events I've put on over the years. But now that I'm...

    Twitter?

I made an account but haven't brought myself to post on it. It seems like actively calling attention to the amount of non-work related schtuff I do during the day. Considering that it's so public and bosses/coworkers could very well see it, I just don't think I'm ready for that. I have the...

    History in my hands…

Absolutely! I worked in the 20th Century Fox Archives, where we dealt with original film props, art department files, posters and photography dating back to the beginning of William Fox's studio in the early 1910's. Those white gloves were like a second skin! Personally, my favorite...

    The 1920 JAZZ SUIT

YES! I was meaning to post about William Haines' suit! It's amazing how this site has shed so much light on aspects of the films/culture we love! Speaking of which, I just saw a short spotlight on King Vidor on TCM where they showed a clip from the 1929 film, Hallelujah. And I swear one of...

VI dress for a job interview?

You should judge your level of dress by the environment and average look of the rest of the workers in the office. In my opinion, dress down for an interview with a modern 2 piece suit and modern tie. I would suggest no cufflinks and no hat. I'd say a three piece suit is bringing too much...

Where to find other retro singles?

You really think walking up to someone out of the blue works? I always feel like there's an invisible wall between people. I turn to try to walk around it because surely it must end somewhere but I come upon a hard fast corner and then another wall... and another and maddeningly yet still...

    Rock Baby, Rock It (1957)

Johnny Carroll is where it's at. Big fan of the Rockin Ronny Weiser years too. One of my favorite era films is Bop Girl Goes Calypso! It's maybe a guilty pleasure because I love original calypso too! Plus it's hard to beat THE GOOFERS footage there!!! :D
