David- nice jacket! I however would opt for a lighter colored fedora-
either an OR or the many clones- or a different colored Borsalino-style-
maybe Adam/Dobbs etc. with a contrasting ribbon and edge binding- a
medium brown body with a copper-ish ribbon would be interesting...
and you...
great find!
and do hold onto things before you either toss or sell-
that mundane phone will fetch a pretty penny...
and I've got a home for the Blue sleigh in the rafters.
A serious note: try and get the provenance of each piece, trace
things back as far as possible-and check with...

It happened to me-unawares-opened the hat box, what was a beautiful hat-
was still beautiful-but STINK...try to give it as much fresh air as posssible, in a shady location; DON'T steam it- will only set the "fragrance".
Best of all- send it out to Optimo ASAP with details, and pray.
Sorry to...
well...haven't cut my hair since Oct., and is getting to be pretty long and plenty thick- almost p-tail material (definitely heatstroke material), and find
that I like the look and feel of my classic fedoras just as much as when my hair was very short.
As an "artiste"-I can get away with all...
I'm dyin' here...had a great ride today on my back-from-the-vet Exile- the
motorcycle that scares a lot of Harley riders-and check in at the Lounge...
Borsalino helmets??? nearly dropped my teeth on the keyboard.
I'd look so darn quaint with one of those on my noggin-you can't make this...
Tony- yer killin' me...anyone out there wants to part with a foldable Borsalino-
please let me know-7 3/8 or 7 1/2, and have plenty of hats to trade...[huh]
WOW!! What a difference 1/4" or so can make- I like the Navy, Chocolate,
and maybe Maroon, dependant on the body color.
Chose the Navy first because of the contrast; a rule of thumb (so I hear) is to
NOT use high contrast with this type of hat- it tends to cut the hat in half;
in this case...
Following Tony B's remarks- I too save bits and pieces-and entire hats-just for the chance to refurbish a good hat myself; I own the the hat, I wear it, and it
doesn't matter to me if it's not 100% pure. Rather have a hat I can keep wearing than be a purist.
And foldable Borsalino's---I'll...
Well...the crown is so strong, at least from the angles you show it from, that it seems like the thin ribbon gets a little lost. (and this from a thin-ribbon guy)
I'd try a 5/8" ribbon and see if the balance is better-you're contending with a great crown w/crease, and smooooth transition to a...
Tony: I remember seeing a thread last year with the same topic, and plenty of photos of wonderful perforated felts-in those early colors, light greens, etc...
and the concensus was ( I think ) the perforations were mostly an advertising/
marketing attempt at keeping the felt market alive...
