Let's be honnest, I was the one stirring things up, here. I'm really curious about the accuracy of the jacket here and don't mind raising other's concern if they are not willing to post on TFL.
Oh by the way, here's a poor quality picture of an original Flite Wear jacket I took at the Georgia...
No need for screenshot, I'll gladly repeat over here what was said over there!
I said, and I quote "call me a troll if you want". As stated there, I as well as others indeed want to see the original jacket with epaulets and so on this one is based on! Is it that hard to understand? Thanks, I...
@zebedee I wouldn't dare the washing machine, and especially not the thumble dry. I've put my '58 roamers in the machine and hang them dry, and they lost around 1/1,5 inch in length, meaning no more cuffs on this one! True, I never soaked them before, that may have been my mistake here.
Well, it's available on TaoBao (the chinese eBay):

I was lucky that my friend is working with people in China and was able to order directly from them. I sincerely don't know how to order on...
I was looking for a waiscoat for sometimes, and someone at VLJ posted about this one:
Fell in love with the look, a very vintage workwear vibe coupled with WW2 deck jacket. Thanks to him, I should receive mine the next week or so!
Have their 58 and 37 Roamers denim, and the 48 Engineer, and I absolutely love them ! One of the best quality vs price out there, IMHO.

Great choice! I always find myself in love with SJC's pieces. His work shirts and this jacket are really great, but sadly the sleeves are way too short for me...
Hi pmegs,
The L-2B was an USAF only jacket. The USN didn't had nylon flight jacket at the time, only the G-1 leather jacket with fur collar. The 319th FIS patch would suit perfectly well. You need to find a repro version of the one that was worn back then, and sew it on the left chest.
What...
If these are your only options, I'd go with the second one.
Edit: Why not this one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/CIVIL-WAR-STYLE-HARP-MUSICIANS-MILITARY-REPRODUCTION-2-PC-BRASS-BELT-BUCKLE/312055289071?hash=item48a7f1d4ef:g:j6QAAOSwBahValz9
This jacket is truly a piece of art! Kudos to you, Spit! IMHO, the lack of buckle at the front doesn't detract from the jacket at all. As you said, those were cyclists jackets, with a boatload of variations, so there is really no right or wrong way to do it.
Now you just need to go to Duxford...
Ooooh, do you have pictures of your collection ? Been following motocycle racing since as far as I can remember, and I'd love to see that !

This thread is, in my opinion, epic! I have two left hands, with 5 thumbs on each, so to witness what you are doing with no tailoring experience is really amazing to me. the project looks really good, and seen there were numerous patterns of civilian jacket around, I think you're going to get...
Hey, I loved this movie! Cheesy as it was, I still find it funny and entertaining to watch.
... and I have a bad replica of this jacket!! Actually, my father bought it for me when I was around 17/18 as he knew I liked it so much. Hadn't put it on for years, but it's still out there. I said bad...
