You know, we USED to have returnable pop and beer bottles that came in reusable cardboard containers. I'm not sure why single use plastic is better. I do understand that some medicines do need to be in a container that is either single use, or can be sanitized.
Just my $0.02
Hi, their website doesn't say where they're from. Are then in the US? I would have THOUGHT that an American company would have called them a Nutria, which is all I've ever hear them called. On the other hand, only 1 in 1000 American's have used the term Nutria in their life anyway. I like...
Hi
That's not exactly an unusual piece in that the whole US Army wore those between about 1870 and 1905 (roughly). I started a bit smaller though back a few years ago. I took that picture May 22, 2012. I wear it regularly here in Oklahoma.
I also have a larger version in Sand, and a more...
Hey, I'm considering a copy pretty much the way that one is now. I have two big black hats, and an Indian war Dress hat, and I could use one to wear also. I like the stitching. I also might do that shape in brown or a dark gray. The bigger hats (one's a Quigley) really need cowboy boots to...
Hi Doc
I remembered that Straw hat day and felt hat day were NOT Memorial day and Labor Day but had forgotten that they were always the same day each year. Being an Okie now, I need the sun protection most of the year.

Hi
While realizing that this is an 11 year old post, wearing a Pith helmet and Safari jacket downtown cracked me up. I commonly wear what's effectively a Spanish American war roughrider hat, or 1880 era US Army fatigue hat. I took my 28 year old daughter to the zoo while wearing tan shorts...
Hi
if it was VERY recently, Mike was out of town. He does answer emails, which is how I got 6 hats from him. He's also very busy. He'll (and the rest of the hatters) be even busier in late October for Xmas.

Wow, wait until the beavers in Cali eat someone's $2K a piece trees and flood a golf course. We had a big argument in a subdivision in Wichita 10 years ago. The beavers flooded a few yards after eating say $10K in one guy's trees. I think they finally got them trapped. We have the same...
Hi
I've been wearing felt hats all summer here in Oklahoma. We've had an almost cold year with only a few days above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I would like to have a few panama's but I wear a 7 3/8 long or extra long oval and I can get Mike Moore to make 100% wild hare hats cheaper than a custom...
Hi
I grew up in Illinois and still have friends there. A friend of mine who still lives there tells me of other friends who are brought into the bosses office and told that they should leave because they'll make more retired than they will working. I'm not 60 yet and many of these people are...
Hi
What's the brim and crown size on the Stetson? A friend of mine is looking at getting a hat and he's at least 6'4" and 7 5/8 hat size. I think that style would work for him.

Hi
A guy I used to work with claimed to be a wine connoisseur. He said he always sniffed the cardboard to be sure it was fresh when he bought the box wine.
I'm not much on wine, I like a cheap Chianti with Pasta, but that's about it.

Well, Rabbit and Beaver felt is made from Naturally water repellent stuff so unless you're out for hours the hat will be fine.
I had a Filson type hat years ago. Don't add more of the wax stuff, your hat will droop. Don't ask how I know...

Hi
My Dad told a similar story from growing up. He came home from school, at least Junior High (he graduated in 1937 from Bluffs High School). He was feeding the chickens and the Rooster clawed him pretty good. When Grandma came home from working at the Phone Company he was setting in the...
