    Akubra Overload

Heck, I bought a Charcoal grey hat from Tumwater Hats because I was traveling to Mulkitilo a lot, put a nice medium blue ribbon it and it's my rain hat. I don't know what he charges now, but it is 100% beaver and still looks great. Later

    Over 50 wearing leather jackets

Hi, My Dad (born 1919, passed 2011) wore a WW2 jacket from The Cockpit for years until he went a few places in Springfield Illinois that were less than friendly. He started dressing a lot cheaper, no sense in dying 15 years early over a leather jacket. He had a leather flight jacket from WW2...

What Did You Drink Last Night?

Hi Went to the BIG (Beer Is Good) brewery in Downtown Norman Oklahoma. I had the El Guapo, a heavy Mexican Stout with Vanilla and other spices in it. Then I had the Lucky Charms, an Irish Red ale that was a lot easier to drink. I should have gotten it first, its was heavy, but more like a...

    Colour vs heat

Hi Being an engineer and all, Dark Colors absorb light energy, while lighter colors reflect reflect most light energy. I commonly wear light tan hats in the summer to balance the concept of reflecting heat and not showing sweat stains like white would do. Later

“WTF’ Hats,” that are hard to believe...

Hi, The nice girl in the first picture is great looking, but presents a logistical nightmare. If you get her to stay over, where do you hang the hat? Just sayin'

How Many Safari Jackets are Enough

Hi, there should be a size chart on Jerry Lee's website (WPG). I haven't had mine for at least 9 years. Later

How Many Safari Jackets are Enough

Hi, well right now you're limited to TAG and WPG unless you get a used one. I have both a tan and a green one from Cabelas that are a decade old. I had a green airtex one from WPG, but it shrunk a little. The airtex ones are really nice in the hotter climates. I don't tend to use the belts...

    Help With Custom Hat Order

Hi Have you checked out D Bar J in Paradise Nevada? I haven't heard much from him. He has a profile, but not a single message and the profile started in 2013. I know nothing about the hat shop. On the other hand, being able to drive to see him would be helpful, AND from what I remember, he's...

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

Hi, Mike Moore made this one for me. The quasi Quigley leather hat band is one I made, after Mike told me how to do it. Later

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

Thanks, that's a Doc Holliday from Mike Moore at Buckaroo Hatter's. That's not the one he thinks looks the best though. I have a Black Quigley style that just fits the face. Of course that was pre-19 and I ain't seen my barber since late February 2020. I will try a picture in the next few...

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

Hi I ended up with a Sunbody after doing to a Wichita Wranglers baseball game. I knew enough to put sun block on my neck (cause I'm already a redneck), but I didn't do the back of my ears, which flaked off. Now I have cowboy hats. Oklahoma city has a "famous" hat shop called Shorty's. You...

    Cowboy hats - opinions?

Hi, when I owned cows, I didn't have a cowboy hat. Of course, I was 3 or 4 at the time. My grandfather gave me a cow for my birthday, the cow had a calf, and they went to the auction. I got a few hundred $ which eventually paid for my college. Now, more than 50 years later, I have a cowboy...

Sunrise Hat Company felt (nutria) and hatters’ tools

Yep, Beavers are a nuisance. There were some in a neighboring subdivision. They chopped down roughly $5000 in oak trees in a guy's back yard and the other neighbors didn't want the wildlife killed. Later

Ask a question, get an answer

Hi, look at Stratton hat, they come in standard, long oval, extra long oval, and wide oval. You can custom order the straps etc. They are nice hats, I got one on clearance, but it was a wide oval and I"m not. https://strattonhats.com/ Later

WWI uniform tunic repros, civilian-style jackets

One guy I know ordered from them, never got anything, never got a refund. They also use a lot of someone else's pictures I believe. I haven't even looked at their website for 4 years or so, but Al's warning was from June of last year.

Who makes the most accurate summer (cotton) uniform?

Hi What Price Glory is good, and inexpensive. At The Front is a bit more, mostly made in the US, and is also mostly better than WPG. They don't overlap. WPG doesn't do German, ATF doesn't do anything but WW2. Hope that helps.

WWI uniform tunic repros, civilian-style jackets

Hi Look for What Price Glory or onlinemilitaria.com. Also look on Ebay for What Price Glory and / or Jerry Lee. Nice stuff, made in Pakistan I think. From what I understand, don't talk to Replicators (nice website though). Later

    On Retirement And Hats

Hi I agree, and my two favorite TV shows were "Married with Children" and "Two and a Half Men". If you watched those shows and didn't feel better about your family, well, you had some SERIOUS problems. Fortunately, I found them uplifting. Later
