Thank you Steve, the setting is indeed spectacular, recently renovated and converted into the top floor of a well know luxury store. I'm very proud they decided to commision a collection from me, and very pleased they loved the idea of a luxury hand finished homburg.
Grazie mille Daniele!! Homburgs are also my favorite masculine hat, and I must thank all the members of The Fedora Lounge for being such an endless source of inspiration. There is so much one can learn from looking at classic hats made at the height of their popularity when techniques had been...
Finished homburg in dark grey velour on display. It's part of a collection I've made for the new brand (Misui) of a luxury shop in Barcelona (Union Suiza). Their core business is jewelry, but with the new brand they've branched out into shoes and hats. An intriguing proposition that I hope pays...
Hi Ginseng,
Thank you!
It's medium weight jacquard style fabric, has enough body to stand on its own, so I only do a tack stitch at CF and CB and it stays neatly in place. I made the pattern out of the hat block.

The lateral measurement betweet the tip of the ears is an important one, as it turns out there's not (generally) much variation between big and small heads (30-32cm), but if you fall outside of the average you might find it difficult to get a good fit. Also important is the relative position of...
Hi again,
I sourced the velour directly from the manufacturer Tonak, in the Czech Republic. It used to be impossible to purchase from them because of very large MOQs, but these days they have a website set up and there are no minimum quantities. The colours are really gorgeous and the quality...
Hi again mayserwegener,
You're a wealth of information and I appreciate you taking the time to talk this over with me. Thank you also for sharing the sources for the ribbon.
That Hückel Weilheim Exklusiv is a beauty. I'm in awe at that curl... really?!! how on earth did they manage that...
Thank you Mayserwegener for the amazing reply. You might have nailed it with the type if ribbon, I have used milliners grosgrain that has a ribbed edge and lots of stretch (allowing it to curl), I will try with hatters ribbon (no ribbed edge) that has less give. I do like the edge bound panama...
Hello everyone, I need your assistance regarding the brim binding on homburgs. Those of you who own a vintage one, would you say the brim is wired to preserve the tightness of the curl? Or is it just stiffened to death? I'm having some issues with the binding staying nice and taught.
Thanks in...
How about a portable hat holder that you could hook to the table and keep the hat tucked under it? These patents are a source of inspiration!

Or perhaps we could do an exchange, if there's anything you covet from over here (Europe), fur felts, tie silk (wonderful for linings)... let me know!

I made a hat block out of cork and documented the process, you can see the pictures if you follow this link. You can find written details at my blog.
The block is for a homburg (I...
