Ok, I tried the drill method...not good. The drill bit tore into the hat felt and didn't make a clean hole.

The Ariat boots that I wear now are comfortable, but the shaft is so big I look like Puss-in-boots if and when I pull up my pants leg. They have no upper buckle and no side zip...just pure shaft.

Nothing throws me off more than a lack of symmetry, the lines of the hat aren't lined up with his nose or the lines of his face....ugh.
