The stickieness comes from the light varnish in the straw that helps hold it's shape so well. Just be careful near water rides at amusement parks or under misters. It does tend to soften the varnish hold, but once it dries your back in business.

Why thank you Marc. It started life out as one of Peters Bros. Indy Straw, but I had to immediately re-shape it int what you see there. There was just way too much crown (around 6") for a center dent. It looked like I was wearing one of Abe Lincolns stovepipe tot hats. So with a little steam...
Looks like your jungle has grown a bit since you last posted pictures standing out there. Looks like a cozy place to escape and take a nap.
That and nice looking lids to boot.

I think the white ones would look great with either a black or navy cable nit sweater and some canvas deck shoes or some brown & white spectators.

Interesting. So there is no ill effect on the skin while wearing the hat? It doesn't cause a rash or anything? I'm just curious. Thanks for the further info.

Heck, I bought some super glue the other day and the clerk was telling me that some 12 year old kid had bought a model car but couldn't purchase the paints or glue for it because he wasn't 18. He'd be lucky to be able to buy the models that include the paint & glue in the box. Just another case...
Welcome Phobic! No need to be shy around here. If you're near the Virginia City area at all it's worth a look for hats. There's a place called the Red Garter that you may find a bowler or two.

Welcome to the Lounge Perterra. Pretty neat looking rouges gallery you posted there. Your Pop was a snazzy dressr for cattle country. Dig on the old photo.

Now, after the dunking of the lid nad it comes clean, do you just air dry it, and how do you lay the hat? How long does it take to dry? There are no ill effects on your skin to note while wearing the cleaned hat? Curious.
Cheers!
