As far as I understand it, this derives from the movie The Fly, with Jeff Goldblum. His character, Brundle(Fly) ascribes his clothing choices to Einstein. From the thread on Einstein's leather jacket sale, I think we have some evidence that he did indeed vary his clothing.
I think A-1 has got...
I had a CD and book problem and have gone down the digital route. I do not really miss CDs but do keep some nice hardbacks. I do miss album covers and especially gatefold sleeves. Maybe time to re-invest in a turntable a few select albums on vinyl?
My purchases are a bit scattered, and are largely driven by curiosity facilitated by the access the internet has given to items that would have been very difficult to source a number of years ago.
I try to limit things by having only one example of each item, so one tweed coat, one wax, one...
Before things get out of hand, perhaps we should chip in to buy some examples of jackets from different manufacturers. We could then pay an objective expert to try to tear them and measure the straightness of the seams and, particularly, zips. Bill Kelso could do the tests as we already know...
I really like the look of Himel's jackets but if I do a 'years left to live' against cost ratio, they just do not work out for me. However, if anyone has a used Himel in 46 for sale, let me know. I feel the same about the jackets from the makers in Japan. Pictures of them actually give me a...
$4000 plus flights and hotel. Gives some context to other makers on here. I was hoping that someone with a better memory than me would chime in. I am sure Chapal have been mentioned on this forum but were no where near as expensive.
I have a pair of Churchill Maverick, deer skin lined with thinsulate. I used them quite a bit when driving and they still look great.

An interesting blog post about Chapal made to measure. The leather in the main picture looks really good. Give some context to other MTM and MTO options.
@Clipper, I have a Premier work coat in dark seal Vicenza that I might sell. It is a 46 but as it is a slim pattern it would probably fit like a 44 in other jackets.
Let me know what you think
The Calders and all the staff made for a welcoming visit. Some of the staff were on the workfloor and were happy to discuss what goes in to sewing up an Aero. The smell in the factory is just gorgeous.
It was fairly busy but well mannered. The biggest hassle was getting some mirror time. I came...
Is this one of the Simmons Bilt/Alexander/Barbour/Triumph collaboration?
I had an old wax cloth International but decided to stop wearing it when I was in the queue at Tesco along with quite a few other Internationals. That trend seems to have tailed off and I see many fewer around.
I suspect that given the way most on here (me included) fret about details, it may not be just that fast paced. Out of interest, a general question. How far would you compromise based on the price? For example, when I first decided to go it was in the hope of 30's half belt or nothing. Now, I...
Having had time for a more critical review of the list, there are probably only 5 jackets that might fit me. I am just looking forward to taking some time out of the quotidian and, if I pick something up, that will be a bonus. Any of the customers attending will be far too cool for a Black...
I have done a quick excel sort of the list and have narrowed it down to 29 jackets to try on.
Seems to be a wide range of sizes so should be worthwhile for anyone going.
Hey, here is a way that might make this thread worthwhile. It is a charity called Jeans for Genes where you wear Jeans to work and donate to charity. The charity raises funds to improve the lives of children with genetic disorders. They actively recommend, double, triple and quadruple denim...
Fanch, thank you for the help and the contact with Mizbb. I have received an email from her and immediately have a good feeling about this. I have a long back and short legs for my height and struggle to find trousers with a long rise. I have ventured down the MTM, and even bespoke, routes...
I agree with AdeeC - the angle of the photograph does make the jacket look slightly strange. This picture is much better and If I had that jacket I would be happy with the fit. I also think the pockets are fine. This might sound odd but in the past I have found that the pocket flaps take a bit...
