    Coldest Weather I've been in

Stand By, did you enjoy today's temps? Never warmed up in my parts, despite the sun shining clear for most of the day.

    Coldest Weather I've been in

The farmer a couple doors down is on his third crop, I think. On the other hand, a second damp summer in a row means the basement never really dried out like it usually does and I'm expecting that when I eventually move my boxes of books out most will have to be junked. 17 years of a warm dry...

    Coldest Weather I've been in

^ What? I thought drinking made you immune to illness? I must have been misinformed. That cold breeze last night was nice, but not if you had to wake up early in the morning, which unfortunately I had to today. It would have been nice to stay under the covers and sleep in. Yeah, the weather...

    Coldest Weather I've been in

Not quite winter yet up here in Canuckistan, but I left the windows open last night and woke up to a very cool breeze blowing through the house. I had to wear a jacket this morning for the first time this fall.

Excellent collection of tags, and lawsuits too... interesting history.

    USN Peacoat Questions

We already have a thread on peacoats... but anyways, it's probably the same thing with USAF flight jackets: some of our members have a huge collection of original jackets in great condition and claim to have never spent more than $50 on each. These days they're difficult to find in anything like...

Is there a components tag with the blend? I'm guessing the camel means it's camelhair, at least in part.

    Not my overcoat obviously!

What leather conditioner do you use?

Thanks for asking. I find when reading these threads what is usually missing is a detailed response to this hypothetical question: How old and in what condition was the jacket when you applied conditioner, and what evident changes did the conditioner make?

Military Surplus fashion in the 1940s and 1950s

These photos are an excellent reference and time machine. I hope you've got more!

    Leather trenchcoat

I get what you're saying and at times I don't care what others think of what I'm wearing, but part of being an adult is finding a compromise between what you want to to and what you should do. There are so many clothing options out there that there's no reason to dress like a clown or in some...

    Leather trenchcoat

Ferragamo will have designed a coat which can be worn out and about without looking weird, so if you can pay their prices then you're probably safe. But make sure you do NOT wear a fedora with it!

    Leather trenchcoat

Don't get a leather trenchcoat. It will look ridiculous and you'll look like you're in costume for a movie or television show, or you'll look like one of those angry loners who doesn't fit into society and thinks by wearing a leather trenchcoat somehow you'll be cool (when it will just make you...

Military Surplus fashion in the 1940s and 1950s

It was probably made by the same company that had its G-9 contract cancelled at the end of the war but which had a large stockpile of cloth, etc, sitting around, and (of course) the patterns. I don't know, but I doubt there was any legal issue selling military clothing to civilians in those days...

I think that's exactly what they were thinking, and of course they were there and had a right to protest.
