That was my point in asking my question. I've run across this sort of self-consciousness (and self-absorption) a lot on other clothing forums, so I recognized it immediately. I can assure you that 99.9999% of people don't notice what you're wearing, and if they do, don't care. Also you might be...
I have never understood (and probably never will) the desire to have repro jackets with patches and decals on them. I don't mind repros, in fact it's better than wearing out a piece of history, but I would rather not have anything like USAF decals.
I think that's the essential hypocrisy of the...
Keep in mind that N3B parkas are military which means they're pretty basic. Buy one for novelty or history or if you live somewhere it doesn't get too cold, but don't buy one for extreme performance.

Anyone wearing their N3B parka? Today is the first seriously cold day (mostly due to wind chill), about a month late, but someone among our members must be wearing their parkas already.
Here's an article which has relevance to this discussion: http://www.livescience.com/46894-how-humans-changed-in-100-years.html. The point is that the average male measures out differently than the average male of 50 or 100 years ago, so clothes have had to change over time. Construction quality...
The challenge is that the coat fits well in the shoulder and upper body, and the sleeves are the right length, but if in fact it comes to just above the ankles then it's too long. Mid-calf is the max length for any long coat (men's coats... women's coats can brush the ankles no probs).
Fit is fine and you'll be grateful for the length when the weather blows cold. The buttons are placed a bit low, but that's just a fashion cycle thing and nothing to fret about (I suggest leaving the bottom button un-done except when you need the extra protection)... wear the coat.
