Here's an interesting N3B which has had reflective strips attached and has a USN(?) stamp on the back. Click for larger pics.

What Do They All Think Of Your Vintage?

That was my point in asking my question. I've run across this sort of self-consciousness (and self-absorption) a lot on other clothing forums, so I recognized it immediately. I can assure you that 99.9999% of people don't notice what you're wearing, and if they do, don't care. Also you might be...

At The Front - Deals of the Day

I have nothing but sympathy for the guy who owns ATF since so many of his customers seem to be the cheapest around!

Reproductions: How do you know they're accurate?

I have never understood (and probably never will) the desire to have repro jackets with patches and decals on them. I don't mind repros, in fact it's better than wearing out a piece of history, but I would rather not have anything like USAF decals. I think that's the essential hypocrisy of the...

USAF N-3B parkas - Let's talk about them!!

Keep in mind that N3B parkas are military which means they're pretty basic. Buy one for novelty or history or if you live somewhere it doesn't get too cold, but don't buy one for extreme performance.

"Star Wars" Episode VII Cast announced/revealed

I've read quite a few spoilers about this film and I'm thinking I'll wait until the library gets in on DVD. It sounds to me like Abrams doing another Wrath of Khan warmup of leftovers sort of thing.

USAF N-3B parkas - Let's talk about them!!

Anyone wearing their N3B parka? Today is the first seriously cold day (mostly due to wind chill), about a month late, but someone among our members must be wearing their parkas already.

Reproductions: How do you know they're accurate?

Here's an article which has relevance to this discussion: http://www.livescience.com/46894-how-humans-changed-in-100-years.html. The point is that the average male measures out differently than the average male of 50 or 100 years ago, so clothes have had to change over time. Construction quality...

Does my new trench coat fit me?

The challenge is that the coat fits well in the shoulder and upper body, and the sleeves are the right length, but if in fact it comes to just above the ankles then it's too long. Mid-calf is the max length for any long coat (men's coats... women's coats can brush the ankles no probs).

At The Front - Deals of the Day

Thanks for the update, I had no idea they were offering the B10 again. This version looks even better than the previous.

Does my new trench coat fit me?

Fit is fine and you'll be grateful for the length when the weather blows cold. The buttons are placed a bit low, but that's just a fashion cycle thing and nothing to fret about (I suggest leaving the bottom button un-done except when you need the extra protection)... wear the coat.

Is my vintage CHP Cal-Leather jacket too short?

These are supposedly Sacramento cops in the 1940s, which shows how short these vintage jackets were, as Dinerman observed. (click for full size image)
