Thanks gentlement! If it does have that little pucker I see if I can iron it with a damp hankey on it to soften the varnish and then reshape it & let it set that way. It could also be something that will just pop out with a little poke.
Cheers!

Great looking hat Tom!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap Glad that it worked out and you finally got the lid. You know, the brim binding sort of looks copper instead of orange. It sort of gives one the feel of the old prop planes that had a copper leading edge on a dark wooden prop...
I missed out on the Adam panama fedora this weekend, but I managed to pick up this Resistol. It should fit well with some of my 50's attire at the company BBQ this summer.:)...
Mine is a Lancaster 7 3/8. The thing fits perfectly and no shrinkage thus far. It's a very nice crusher cap for the money. One of the best repros I seen in some time. I suppose that if I took the brass officers device off of the front it may pass for some sprt of civilian cabbie cap all crushed...
Glad to hear you got the lid finally, and he's probably happy to be rid of it. Hope to see the pictures when you get back, sounds like the pictures from the auction didn't do it any justice. Congratulations!:eusa_clap
Cheers!

Those are some fantastic lids gentlemen. I missed out on a nifty looking Adam straw today on OFAS. Oh well, you win some and you lose some.:) Hopefully the winner was a Lounger and will show it off here.
Cheers!

Dean: Not at all. The Krag was still in use up into the 1910's. The Marines at the time usually didn't get the latest & greatest until after the Army & Navy had their supplies filled out. So it would be fairly reasonable to say that this portrayal is fairly accurate. I think some of them even...
Thank you Dean, these are some great images of the Campaign Hat circa 1904. The Grandpa to the fedora and the cattleman's cowboy hat in a way. I wonder what the bow on the side of the hat looked like? This model of Campaign hat has a wider ribbon than the earlier models. I wonder if it is more...
While steaming try brushing it gently with an orange hat sponge. The steam will help lift the fibers and the dirt. Along with the sponge try a little of the Scouts "dark" hat cleaner on it. You don't want to use the "light" color cleaner as it will leave a powdery residue and make it look...
My recent Knox...
It's so soft it just takes what ever bash I put into it yet holds it nicely. The turkey feather was added by the seller. I like the idea of a feather in this one so I may try to get something more colorful for it.
Baron: I dig on that Tom N' Jerry, the brim...
Razzman: Hot dog! That is one nice looking lids!:eusa_clap I dig on the double button ribbon treatment on the third offering. Adam, along with Mallory seem to have some of the most unique ribbons that I have seen.Thank you for sharing!:)
