I once won a box of old hankies on ebay and when I washed them, black stains suddenly appeared on one of them. I shrugged it off to a chemical reaction with Woolite- or a ghost that didn't like me washing away her tears. Either is fine with me. :)
I bought my first ever vintage radio today and just learned about all of the hazards with tube radios (http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=23714). You obviously know what you are doing and can fix them up which is great! Your radios are all so beautiful.
Oh, sorry, I meant a 1953 radio! It's a small clock/radio. It sounded so nice, but I won't plug it in again until I get it checked out by my friend who restores radios.
Lizzie- I have a Philco from 1953. It does have tubes. It has a "UL" sticker on the back and is 115 volts. Will this still have the same hazard, do you know? I was just so excited to plug it in and have it work. Bleh.
Cool!
I've found all kinds of things being used as bookmarks in my old books like ribbon, torn newspaper, folded notes and also I've found many dried flowers. :)
(Is anyone else paranoid about some kind of latent vintage virus spore being in the pages? No? Oh. Well I'm weird like that!)
I cast the oy vey vote.
Not everyone who posted their pictures intended to enter a beauty contest.
Personally I think it's just bad form (forum, too) to start discussing openly about who is the best looking. It's all subjective, anyway.
Thanks, Samsa.
I've gone through what you described, and I realized over the years that I was unable to quit smoking and still drink (at all). *Any* loosening of my inhibitions and I was lighting up (and yes, bumming a smoke off of someone, anyone lol ).
Cherry Red, that all looks delicious! Sorry I missed your post earlier for some reason. It's unlike me to overlook good food.
Miss N, that looks very tasty, actually!
