Hey - that's the kind of coat I have been looking for!!!!!
What's it called, if I shall chase it - Polo Coat?
(I am a total novice on coats - so pardon me asking)
I am attending the Spring Show Sunday May 16th. That I know for certain.
Has some business in London - and it suited just fine.
Anybody else attending that?
Great story, Tim - thanks for posting it!
And while we are on the subject - I am halfway through FIGHTER PILOT - A Self-portrait by George Barclay. What a great book!
(Thanks for reminding me!)
Lots of fantastic coats here. But I could need some help.
I like the RAF Great Coat a lot. The color, the cut - everything about it.
But where do I find one big enough (52" chest)???
Or a modern or vintage coat in a similar design.
By the way.... Does anybody recognize the painting used for this poster?
(Or is it a illustration done specific for the poster?)
It's bloody marvellous!
Congrats with you new Irvin, Hawk Eye.
To me the advantage of both AERO and ELC is, that not two jackets are alike.
Drop us some pics some time, will you?
:)
This one, thank you!:)
Might come as a surprise with my "Loungename" and all - but I really love the Hurricane.
(And I think the Spitfires might be sold out by now.)
So - I would settle for the good, steady ol' Hurri. The unsung hero of Battle of Britain.
I love the Spitfire Campaign - and especially the great concept: The Bottle of Britain.
It opens up for a lot of executions.

I wonder if this is an ad - or just what we today would call "product placement".
Maybe even without thinking about it back then - just grabbing the nearest beers they could find for the movie.
Haven't seen the whole movie though. So I am not 100%.
Nice scene though!!!!
Another Great Escape ad - this time for Shell:

Enjoy!
I know - I am just an adman, but I think it could be fun to have a thread with ads, where WWII is the setup.
Are you with me?
Here's one just to get you all started:

Carling Black label: Dambusters.lol
As a dane I can only recommend it - but personally I liked the Norwegian "Max Manus" a whole lot better.
Both films are very well made and tells about the resistance during the nazi occupation, but where Flame and Citron has a plot of "who decides what" and "who did what and why" and "who can...
That blue suite is really great, Thunderw21:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
I have been looking for a suite in that color/fabric for a year now.
Wow....:)
I find it much more "mature" if young people try to look older - and dress "older" - than mid-aged adpeople (And I work among them) trying to look forever young in baggypants and hoodsweaters.:eusa_doh:
Who are they kidding?[huh]
RIP Bob Doe, Battle of Britain hero.
This morning saw the sad loss of Wing Commander Bob Doe - Battle of Britain Spitfire and Hurricane hero. RIP.
The Few are getting fewer - let us never forget.
