    Just found this photo! A flight of Hispano HA-1112 Buchons in Spanish colors. Not a lot of in flight photos of them while serving with the Spanish Air Force. Gives you a sense of what might have been if the Germans had gained Air Superiority, and left their Bf109s in natural silver!

    One of the Horten IV gliders was flown extensively at Mississippi State University! They found it to be a pretty good plane! As for not building flying wings because of the Soviet Union, Northrop built both the XB-35 piston engine and XB-49 jet flying wing bombers. Politics killed those!

    Yes, I remember reading about that, the grass was really wet, so it saved it from a lot of damage. I saw the plane a couple of years earlier. It appears to be flying again in Germany, note the weird Swastika, to get around the law! It also has a three bladed prop now.

    It has been moved to the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hanger. Right now, they are documenting it, and stabilizing it. Hopefully, they may be able to restore it. Nothing is impossible, just to expensive!

    I should add, talking to my neighbor a while back about 1950s pink cars, he said, pink shirts under black jackets, was the height of cool when he graduated High School in 1958! Tuxedo Black & Pink, a Ford option.

    You're spot on about Hot Rods. Outside of car shows, I don't recall, in the 60s-70s ever seeing a true Hot Rod on the street! I think it was in the 80s, when they started to become common. and now, they are big money! And Rat Rods, were just some poor chump that could not afford paint!
