Art has the natural felt which is undyed, but not silverbelly. AFAIK, the only company offering undyed silverbelly is Optimo, aside from a vintage hat obviously.
Cloth sweatband? Is it a wool felt hat?
There are literally hundreds of hat "models," most of which have simply been lost to time. Period Stetson ads indidcate that they were makng upwards of 200 different hats during their heydey.
Yes, the film hat has a nice vintage ribbon which they had long run out of by the time I had the cash for this hat. As I wear a lot of black anyway, it ended up being a happy coincidence.
Garrison serves a particular customer base of Indiana Jones fans, most of whom already know the dimensions of the Raiders hat; 5 1/2" open crown, 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" dimensional brim. Certainly these can be modified in discussion with Mr. Garrison.
I can't really imagine why you'd want a fur felt hat as stiff as a pith helmet, but there are several brands of hat stiffener available. I would check western clothing sites such as Sheplers.
Saw Mr. Adam Savage from Mythbusters today whilst we were walking our dogs on the beach; he was sporting his Adventurebilt Deluxe Raiders hat. Ironically, today was the day I chose not to wear a hat.
+1
Too many to name individually, but a fine group of hatted gentlemen today.
Honest to goodness straw hat weather in the bay area today, called for my Supernatural Milan from the Ecuadorian Panama Hat Co. of New York.
I believe Alan has one of the Stetson Gay Prince clones.
Err, looks like he sold it a while back: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?57609-1950-s-Royal-DeLuxe-Stetson-Tijuana
Dug this up from the Lounge archives with a google search:
Yeah, enforcement of 'intellectual property' sure has changed from then to the Apple/Samsung case. Stetson also made a Gay Prince clone called the Tiajuana (or maybe it was in the Tiajuana line) as well.
Thanks everyone for the compliments on my Open Road. I love that hat, it's a shame the modern versions don't come close to the vintage ones.
Lauro: I saw that Knox too. Glad a lounger picked it up. If I didn't already have a Gay Prince, I would have bid on it.
Jeff: That stingy looks great...
Ale, awesome job on the ribbon; glad to see you around these parts again.
Alan: That is a wonderful hat....Strat I'm assuming by the pin?
Sam: That 3x Stetson has lots of character! You wear it well.
This was actually yesterday's hat for TAR Tuesday, but who's counting?
ca. 50's 3x Open Road.
The lampshade trick worked quite swimmingly for me, although in my case, it was a hat that had been stretched a bit too far, so it was probably eager to shrink back a little bit.
