A little later than this tread but is a very interesting statement of the trends in hatting leading into the mid-60's through the early 70's. This image was run in 1964 and again in 1970 to illustrate the short brim trends for "wear in the city".:eek::rolleyes:

Ok.....I am wondering through a mall and then I spot it.......what appears to be a large felt OR........I approach with caution.....Then......with trepidation as it looks "funny" and indeed it is......the felt looks off.....feels...
On the 19th century and early 20th century photos it is more the time it took to capture an image...a smile is a hard thing to hold for more than 4 or 5 seconds.......some of the earliest photos took 10 seconds or more, depending on the light source.....:eek: On some of those it is even hard to...
Agreed in MORE and BETTER pictures........One more thing that MAY very well hurt value, is the hat has had the brim re-flanged into a modern style and if any pencil roll or kettle upturn that was present (which it likely had) is gone now.....same with the crown re-blocking, which is an easier...
