TRick, I don't know if you've had a positive experience with the hats from River Junction. I made one, non-hat, purchase from them, and I would never consider even looking at their site again. Here's the story.
Factory error on the ribbon doesn't make sense to me, as that's an OR style binding. IIRC, Playboys all had either a single row of stitching around the brim (no binding), or had just the raw edge.
Have you looked behind the sweat for any stamps? Buler found a few hats that had something like...
That's how I found it. We've got so little on leghorn around here that a little google was in order. I'll have to change my search parameters a bit. Almost everything that came up had to do with bonnets. I think a search of 1920 to 1960 with "leghorn", "hat", -poultry (it's quite a fowl problem)...
This seemed as good a place as any.

The price on the panama is noted to go as high as $600, and the one shown is $100. Click the link to view how fine the hat looks for $100.
To me, the felt is worth it. It's so different from any of the rabbit or beaver felts - not better, but so rugged. It looks like a nice addition to your collection.
You can also make a montage in photobucket using the edit function. The montage is then one image, which you can post here as you would a single photo. The same is true for increasing or decreasing the size of photos, or doing any sort of cropping, tinting, framing, etc. that you may like.
Now, it's likely to go over $400, as you can get a licensed repro for that price.

People are often under the impression that I've got a stockpile like rlk. Nothing could be further from the truth. I've got three nice straws, one beater straw, and around 15 felts. Of those felts, I probably wear around 5 of them regularly, I could probably lose 5 them and never know they were...
It's very nice, but it's not mine. I'm not buying anything unless it's an incredible deal or it's something I just can't live without. If it's not 30s or earlier (rare, as you know, in the bigger sizes), I'm barely paying attention.
Bowlerman - all things being equal as to felt, sweat, etc., I prefer the curl of the Stetson.
I tried on this one, but without further info. or photos, I've got nothing. "Wears like iron" is far too frequently used in describing products to find anything. If you'd like to dig around a little...
