Question on upoading photos

I use to be a Whiz at adding pictures to threads in the FL.....and I enjoyed doing it. What is this new uploader and why can't I get photos out of Photobucket to upload? I tried by URL, and off my computer directly......nothing is working!!

I really like the old FL system much better that this recent re-creation....seemed more user friendly.

Any help is appreciated.

When using Photobucket I simply copy the IMG code and paste it directly into my post.

Click on the URL tab and make sure the Retrieve remote file and reference locally is on checked on.
The check box for Retrieve remote file and reference locally is checked on by default and is causing the problem. Uncheck it and you should be able to use the Photobucket image URL.

And most simply, just type
at the end of it.

I had to use the image insert icon to do this. Any attempt at "just adding
before and after' never worked. Is that because I'm using flickr? Also, I can never seem to make my images bigger.

Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

Never would use photobucket way to little storage. Lots of broken links on this forum from photobucket. Even recent images have been broken.
Not so sure that's the reason for the broken links. I've got images there that've been there for years, and still work fine. They do limit bandwidth usage, and resizing the photos to a smaller file size (not dimensions, density) before uploading them helps avoid going over the limit. That said, I most often use a pay service, Fototime.

I've never had a PB link break either. I think what may appear to be a broken link is actually a case of a person removing a photo from their album. I've also seen photos/links lost as the result of forum upgrades.

works every time with every version of Vbulletin. If it doesn't work, then most likely there is an error in writing the url. If there is no error then someone is fooling around with the server or the image. Since I make my living on the internet and operate my own web server, I don't have the problems others might have. But I've certainly typed a url incorrectly and failed to mount my image.

I've been having trouble inserting images by either message, too. The last few days. I use flickr, and I tried going right from my computer. I had one image that Im thought failed show up a day later. Something isn't right.

I had been away for a few days, thanks for the feedback. I'll have to give it another try.....I have aquired many more hats over the winter and into the spring which I sure want to show you all..........and a block and flange which I had made for my self.......time to start making a few for personal use and see if I can't bring that good Bamboo Rod Making talent into the hat making world.

I've finally figured out how to simply load the photos, but would like to know how you do the montage. Photos side by side of different sizes etc.

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. Additionally, I had seen a question about increasing the photo size, but have never seen an answer.
Thanks, BR

Just place the images back to back to back........ (Click on 'reply with quote' on my post for reference). Photos can be resized at the image hosting sites like Photobucket, ImageShack, etc....

You can also make a montage in photobucket using the edit function. The montage is then one image, which you can post here as you would a single photo. The same is true for increasing or decreasing the size of photos, or doing any sort of cropping, tinting, framing, etc. that you may like.
