Lizzie's absolutely right that those Ginger Snaps were part of an entire line of Nabisco "Snaps" cookies in those little boxes. And I have photographic evidence: back in 1964, nothing made me happier than a Superman comic book and some Chocolate Chip Snaps!
Like a bunch of other bloated musical adaptations of that time - Camelot is another classic example - its overblown production and insistence on casting non-singing stars hobbles it. Had original Broadway star Julie Andrews been in this (and Camelot too!), it would have been a lot better. Of...
No doubt they make it easier with gloves, and it's a worthy purpose. But I don't generally wear any of my leather jackets in cold enough conditions to also require wearing gloves.
Gotta say, the Avengers: Infinity War trailer does look outstanding!

I've been on the fence about seeing Justice League. I was considering going to a bargain first matinee (as I did with Batman V...
I've immediately removed them from my jackets (apart from the more permanent fob-like ones on non-spec jackets like my Schott 654). I don't like they way they look, don't see that they're really needed to easily pull the zipper, and they've always struck me as an unnecessary - and perhaps...
I watched it twice, but didn't like it. I admire the level of craft involved (the sunset shooting in real time at actual locations, Gosling learning to play piano, etc.)... but didn't find a single thing that happened in it remotely believable. And for a musical, it only has about one and half...
Stewart can definitely act, see Adventureland, Clouds of Sils Maria, Still Alice, etc. She became a star from those stupid vampire films, but she's a better performer than that. I'm looking forward to seeing this one.
Kong: Skull Island on HBO. Better than I expected. Good dumb fun, and - to...
Not one, but two 50s/60s jazz greats:

I was lucky enough to see Jon...
Their lamb is fine. I've had one of their lambskin Raiders jackets for 15 years, and I got my son one of their lambskin blouson jackets last year. But you know... it's lambskin: it's thin, drapes beautifully, and feels luxurious... but it's a bit more fragile than other hides. I once tore my...
I don't watch Arrow, but I'm forced to agree with this recap of The Flash episode pointing out that if your villain is the smartest man in the world, your writing needs to be smarter!

That one's lambskin, but Wested is great on customizations, so they'd probably make it in goat or cow (and custom sizing if you need it, changing the pockets, etc.) for only a little more.
Gee, I wish I could see it again for the first time! It's my favorite Preston Sturges film, and one of the great movies-about-movies. Endlessly quotable, shockingly serious in its last act, and with some very keen observations throughout. This exchange has a touch of George Bernard Shaw:
John...
Two comments:
First, it seems like so many military classics - trench coats, MA-1s, M-65s (sometimes with earlier, M-43 or M-51 details), N-3Bs, pea coats, etc. - are always available in a huge range of accurate/non-accurate-loosely-inspired versions for woman, across all kinds of stores and...
I recorded it too, but have been too deluged with other stuff to watch it yet (*). Happy to hear it's worthwhile.
(* Worf, check out my entry on Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics in the TV show thread. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a must-watch for you!)
On demand, the first episode of a new documentary series on AMC, Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics, about the rise of Marvel Comics in the sixties, and specifically the creative partnership of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.
This is the most detailed and even-handed treatment I've ever seen...
Regarding Better Things and Louis CK... He's gone, but I suspect FX will find a way to keep doing the show without his visible involvement. It's a critical darling and awards-nomination generator.
And I agree, Better Things is an outstanding show. Blazing truths everywhere. Descended from...
If you covered him with garbage,
George Sanders would still have style - Ray Davies, "Celluloid Heroes"
This guy excelled at playing upper-crust sleazes. There's always something "off" about his characters, no matter how debonair and civil they are... even the ones who aren't villains. Agree...
Thanks Peacoat, that picture is actually from nearly a decade ago. But she's still a cutie, this was just last month:
Oh, and getting back on topic, I have the Sterlingwear Classic and can attest that it's quite warm. But while it's got the old-school ten-button front, it has a one-piece...
