I like the brim trim, it makes the hat far more urban. The more I look at and wear my Fed IV, the more I feel like I'm wearing a cowboy hat. I would really like to have mine Whippet-ized (i.e. the brim trimmed to 2.5" all the way around, bound with a gray, 9-ligne ribbon, and have a gray...
Petri Automate?
My brother is the photog, as I think I've mentioned before. Today he casually mentioned that he has my grandfather's old camera and then he showed it to me. I quickly wrote down everything I could see in the hopes that you folks could tell me what we've got and whether it's...
I love that stuff. I've always been fascinated by the WWI-meets-Old-West aspect of the Punitive Expedition. Any details on what events and groups of cowboy action shooters are doing this, and how?

I don't know who was in Pasadena, but the Earl Automobile Works in Hollywood was an important player not so much for the bodies they produced but for the talent they produced and where he went to work - Harley, the son of the founder, went on to become chief stylist for GM from 1927 and 1958 and...
Hence why the singer in some versions says "Hiya, Mister Jackson" instead of just "Jackson."
Thanks for the illumination. It could be that it's just a bubblegum song with no real story behind the lyrics.

Does anyone know the story behind the lyrics of this song? I grew up a Glenn Miller fan and always liked it, and then I started dating (and eventually married) a student at Western Michigan University (in Kalamazoo), so it's particularly meaningful to me.
I've always speculated that it's...
No, I could handle that, instead the rear point of the diamond disappears and the side points lose their definition, leaving me with a wavy teardrop shape that is flat in the center. All of the diamonds in this thread are nice and crisp looking and I can't seem to achieve that.

What am I doing wrong?
Hey fellas, I got a Fed IV for Christmas and have been trying to put a diamond bash in her, but every time I put it on my head it turns into kind of a muddy cross between a C-crown and a diamond. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong? Is this just because I'm not...
Wow, very neat. It almost makes me wish I hadn't just bought a green plaid pea coat at Target, because this is what I was thinking when I bought that.
What's the pricing like? Hopefully they're expensive, so I can feel like the pea coat was a good deal. :D

I get most of my regional and national news via radio, relying on newspapers only to bring me very local information. Unfortunately, therein lies the problem: I don't want to buy a localized version of USA Today just to get the ten or so local stories they include, so I've let my subscription...
1) My ThinkGeek Bluetooth Retro Handset:
I've never owned a Bluetooth accessory before, so I'm still mastering it, but it seems to work well. My only complaint is that it's styrene and not Bakelite (not that I expected Bakelite) so it's considerably lighter than it ought to be.
2) My...
My newest hat, purchased by grandma:
It's an Akubra Federation IV in Moonstone, although I have to say it's darker than I thought it would be. I rather suspect the Carbon Gray must be nearly a charcoal color in person. I like it, but the robust dimensions have taken some reprogramming...
I'm not sure how much more power a stock Model T frame will take, that's triple the original engine, and Ford frames from the era are notoriously flexible to act as a part of the suspension. If you're a real power junkie, the Model A frame has all of the correct holes to mount a '26-'27 Model T...
That's funny, income is the reason that we have only cellphones and no landlines. I think it may be changing, but the landlines were far from competitive with cellular service for a long time, and most people my age view the land line as the luxury and the cellphone as the necessity.

Well, I must say I'm sorry to hear that. I think cars are splendid recreation, though I think we're in agreement that they make a terrible necessity.
Your old Deuce sounds like my kind of car. I don't suppose you've kept any photos?

Hard to believe this is 1959, eh? Of course, the film is set in Michigan's Upper Penninsula, so things may be deliberately a bit "behind the times." Nevertheless, this is more what I had in mind when I began this thread, yet I haven't heard much discussion of this type of clothing.
