All true but a good reason for heading in the other direction. And – as I've been trying to show – think of the jackets!

@Harris HTM, no: moving to Athens, specifically. @Sloan1874, don't jump to conclusions. I pass through Athens often because my sister has a little house on one of the islands. Sure the economy is in desperate straits but it means it can be a good environment to do entrepreneurial things...

Do tell, @Harris HTM. Been thinking of moving there.

@Furrowson That's essentially what I did. Thessa makes an interesting contrast with Athens.

@Furrowson It's a fitted jacket, to be sure. I'd say that's how they were meant to be worn. It is still a little stiff buttoned up but I think will become less so with wear. While I'd recommend a Thessa visit – it's an appealing joint – you can of course just order by email.

@Insomnia i just hung it under the shower for a while. No shrinkage I'm aware of. I need to be caught under a downpour or two to help the wearing-in.

Worth going to Aero leather in Scotland to get jacket made/otr?

Man, don't pre-order. It's too dodgy. If you're going to be in Scotland, take a trip to Aero, get measured up, look at the models and swallow the extra charge when you get your perfect package in the post.

Thurston Italian Vicenza Horsehide Full Grain Veg.-Tanned Horsehide for Aero Jackets

That blackened brown looks mighty tantalising. Black but with character and depth.

    Best mouton for collars?

Thanks for tip. I wonder if Aero would use someone else's mouton.

    Best mouton for collars?

Thanks, @devilish. Do we know what sorts of vintage coats John uses, exactly? What should you be looking for?

    Best mouton for collars?

Who do loungers think makes the best quality mouton collars for leather jackets? I hear John Chapman of Goodwear uses old fur coats because he thinks modern mouton doesn't cut it (either not plush enough or too dense and lacking water repellent qualities). Real McCoy's also seems to use some...

Thanks for kind words. More pics above, as requested, plus some here of Thedi, his lovely-smelling shop and, just for context, Thessaloniki in early autumn.

Loungers: my latest trophy. I now pretty much only bag a jacket if there is travel involved. A trip to the mellow seaside city of Thessaloniki yielded this number, after a fitting and a three-month or so wait, from the very skilled Theodoros, of the eponymous Thedi Leathers. I also picked up...

    Whitefeather Mfg. 1930s car coat

@Pdawg, much obliged indeed for going to the trouble. Clearly, you absolutely nailed the fit. Did you go for the tapered waist? And, if so, was Fardin comfortable with that? I'm sure Fardin could sell a lot of these in US and UK. No one else is doing quite the same thing (very simple car coat)...

    Non-ugly running shoes?

The Mexico 66s are the right look but seems my back would collapse after actually running in them for more than a few hundred metres. Someone complimented me on my pair of these on the weekend but you can't run in them, either (apart from anything else, they're too expensive). Curious how most...

New Aero Cordovan Vicenza 1920's Work Coat

Size down. It's too baggy. Leather – especially thick horsehide – doesn't drape.
