I guess that depends.
I can't comment on recent production, but I bought a pair in 2006 and they held up very well for several years.

On another note, I see no-one has yet mentioned Spring Courts. They're the sneakers worn by Lennon on the cover of Abby Road.

Superga is another classic shoe, quite inexpensive and made in Italy, near Turin.

I don't know but would strongly advise against running in flat soled shoes.
I quite damaged my ankle jogging in flat soled boxing sneakers years ago.
