How to clean vintage barkcloth with dry rot?

It turns out they have more damage than I thought, so I am going to launder it in a gentle cycle and list on ebay as cutter fabric to help pay for my next EDUCATED purchase. :) Thanks again.

How to clean vintage barkcloth with dry rot?

Yikes....... No, they are too large to hand wash. :( I'll take my chances since I'll have to discard them otherwise once I have them back.

How to clean vintage barkcloth with dry rot?

I picked up a pair of 1950's barkcloth curtain panels this weekend and took them to the dry cleaners. They called and said they can't clean them because of dry rot and they may fall apart. The fabric seemed very sturdy to me. The gal is going to check with her boss and get back to me. What are...

Have you seen his '57 Chevy?

I just saw this on my local craigslist and couldn't resist posting here! Reply to: sale-614668465@craigslist.org Date: 2008-03-22, 9:45AM EDT I'll pay cash for info on the whereabouts of the car I built and sold 35 years ago. I have NO idea what it might look like now but here is a list...

TVLand; Going the way of A&E and AMC?

I want to see My Three Sons. I don't want to see "High School Reunion" and that ghastly new show they keep advertising about turning 40. The ads show creepy women skydiving and buying sports cars, basically same old tired stereotypical mid-life crisis nonsense. Yet, they are calling it the...

Respectful way to "dispose" of this?

One of the things I run into at estate sales, auctions, etc is that most of the people are there looking for "inventory." There is nothing wrong with that except that to some, it's all widgets and not the personal effects, cherished possessions and stories of a person. Not to mention history.

Respectful way to "dispose" of this?

Thanks for the ideas! I'm also considering letting it go in a pretty field and saying a wish for the dog and owner as I release it.

Thanks- I was guessing on the age- so please judge for yourselves by the pics! Sold as is, too, with flaws since I'm offering it for $5 or BO. :)

Vintage Mod 1960's (?) Haspel Plaid Sport Coat / Jacket

I bought this at an estate sale today because I thought someone here might appreciate it! (My husband doesn't dress vintage.) It doesn't have a size inside, but I measured from the (please forgive me for incorrect technical terms) top of the collar to the bottom of the jacket- apx 32". Sleeve...

Respectful way to "dispose" of this?

I was at an estate sale this morning and noticed a plastic bag with a small amount of dog hair. There is a label with the dog's name and date- I am assuming that the former owner (who passed away) loved this dog and this was something sacred to him and was something he kept after it had passed...

    Ask Your Dentist

I loved having my wisdom teeth out! No needles in my mouth- just a big one in a juicy arm vein. Within seconds I was out and next thing I know it was finished and I was drooling with four fewer teeth. They gave me some good meds to help with the pain which I only needed for a few days. One...

    Gardens vegetable, flower or other?

I do need to look up some recipes, and feel free to post some, thanks! I live in the sticks and have deer, groundhogs, badgers, etc.

    Gardens vegetable, flower or other?

YES. Can anyone suggest best veggies for canning? Also, best methods for keeping critters out of the garden? (And least expensive.)

    My smashing success

You know, things have been going well for me lately. They must have been like the Tiki doll from The Brady Bunch!

    My smashing success

That is what bothers me. I pictured a housewife taking such good care of them, and then being passed along, and then surviving the handling at the collectibles shop (and they were not in a glass case). Or, maybe they had some other near misses. And I ended their long life in an instant!

    any old-school housewives??

Being a feminist, to me, means being myself and not looking for outside acceptance for my personal choices. I don't need the approval of card-carrying feminists or "patriarchy." Having said that, I'm a card-carrying feminist. I love June Cleaver, too. All about freedoms...
