Vintage A1 w/A2 collar? Or early A2 with buttons? What is this...?
my $0.2 -the side panels suggest to me its an older Avirex jacket, around the 1980's ( 40 + years ago now) probably Horsehide. The original zipper was replaced with buttons either because the previous owner wanted it that way or it was an easier fix wherever he was at the time.- Boyo

Two Vintage Cal Leather jackets
@PeterRocco Im a solid size 48 in most leather jackets too, so I've always got my eye out for the "bigger sizes" there is a size 52 Golden Bear CHP style jacket similar to the Cal Ton posted in this thread for sale on Grailed follow this link.. good luck...- Boyo

I like both.. neither on drop dead perfect but so what..for the price you paid and the fits you received Id keep both. you mentioned these are your first 2 “quality” leather jackets so wear them for awhile and see what happens, how do the fits change over time, see which style you end up wearing...- Boyo

How did flight jackets (A-2,A1,B6, etc.) get their letter/numbers?
Im sure there are those that know the answer.. I do know that a later war jacket known as the ANJ-3 & ANJ-4 the letters mean "Army and Navy Jacket" as there was a plan to issue the same jacket to both branches of service- Boyo

Im behind a desk most days too, with some worksite visits every once in a while, but I'll wear a leather jacket just about everyday that wearing any kind of Jacket in my climate is reasonably acceptable. I agree with the crowd, these ads are way to intrusive and spoil any continuity with viewing the site. I’d rather make a donation then have to wade through this,
