Which word for sweater do you prefer?

Highly unscientific random poll: For this traditional wool garment, do you prefer to use the word sweater, jumper, pullover, jersey, woolly or another term?

    What sweaters are you wearing?

It's very much sweater weather here in the UK and over large parts of the Northern hemisphere? This means it's a good opportunity for the woollies to come out. I have been largely alternating between Army, Navy, RAF and dark grey 'woolly pullies' (commando sweaters) - the ribbed wool is ideal...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Slightly off-topic but hilarious. There are a number of versions doing the rounds and this one contains a reference to Woolly Pullies. Things to consider whilst adjusting to Civvy street: 1. Speech: •Time should never begin with a zero or end in a hundred; it is not 0530 or 1400. It is...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Hello Stephen, Yes, I do remember these well. I actually have a dark brown crew neck WP from Outdoor Knitwear, which still does that colour. I would love a maroon crew neck - I wore one for a time in the 80s (and a v-neck) but it is long gone now. Unfortunately OKW don't seem to do maroon.

British Army Olive Green Wooly Pully's (Jerseys).

Like you I used to have a v-neck version of the bottle green. I have a crew (round) neck version now, supplied by Outddor Knitwear needless to say!

Thanks for that - it's marvelous. My sand woolly pully is too small for me now - must get another.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Hello Steve I have been very busy over the past few weeks which is why I haven't logged on. However I did give you my email address some time and told you I wanted to keep in touch - but no email came! I'm pleased that it's wet and cool - it's an excuse to wear woolly pullies. Best Wishes...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Good morning Jamie, The sweaters look great and complete the picture with the beard and the kilt. My woollly pulllies are crew neck - apart from one black and one dark blue which I sometimes wear with a tie. The Army green crewneck is perhaps my favourite. I too have some Scottish heritage -...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

As a matter of interest, do you chaps call your wool garments sweaters, jumpers or another name? I tend to use sweater or pullover - although I was brought up to call them jumpers. A friend calls them simply 'woollies' and I am influenced by him as well. So many names for one item of clothing.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Hello Steve, Sorry to be so slow. The delivery time is usually around 2-3 days. Give them a phone call if they haven't turned up. The sizing and quality are excellent.

Very good choices. Thanks for the tip about the wool roll neck cardigan and the navy blue sub sweater - I did have one of these but grew out of it. Will replace when I have room in my wardrobe! Have the white equivalent and love it. Your PMs arrived safely. I have replied to them.

Couldn't agree more. There is also something very appealing about the smell and texture of an old sweater.

A good decision. I hope you like them. I think you said Army green and black.
