I got this in the mail, and thought it might be useful for those pondering the purchase of a Schott:

Not sure if it's ok to post this here, so I understand if the mod's feel compelled to remove the post.
I like seeing personalized designs, especially those that push towards the streamlined/simplicity end of the spectrum. Once you start down this path, though, it will be very difficult to be happy with an OTR model, since 'everything is permitted' in a made to design scenario. Very nice!
Burgundy rayon is a standard item in an LW jacket (if requested). If you have a LW jacket now, and want it relined, LW does offer a 'restoration' service, but it costs $350 (not to mention shipping/handling). Alternatively, you could buy the rayon from LW at $40 sq yard (or source your own for...
Not a hide expert. My understanding is that Elk is a bit tougher and more durable than Deer, all other things being equal. I think Deer works better for something more 'shirt-like', e.g. an A-1, varsity jacket or similar. Also, it's probably easier to use a single Elk hide for a jacket as...
Quick front view pic with the dreaded hands in pocket stance:
I wear sportcoats and blazers under my jackets on occasion, hence an additional 1" length or so.
The jacket felt stiff on day one, but every day it grows softer and softer. Based on what I've read on the site, it is nowhere near as 'stiff' as HH. I had to karate chop the jacket to fold it onto a chair on day one; after about 10 wearings, it will fold over without martial arts.
Not an...
I'm wondering if anyone knows the shoulder widths of A2s produced in 1931-43 by contract. From what I can gather, early Werber designs had a wider shoulder to waist ratio than most. Anyone with definitive knowledge that could offer a relative ordering of contracts? I'm asking because if I get...
If it's not Scottish, it's crap!

LW has strong opinions about its product and I for one enjoy seeing it in action. Reminds me of Breaking Bad and the quality of the 'blue.' (Although I can't picture LW building jackets in a RV.) You might think Heisenberg was an a&&, but his product was the best...and that was the message...
The Raider, Suburban and Ryder are the styles that interest me most. The pictures and experiences shared on this forum are more compelling than the pictures/messaging on the LW site. Analogy: I saw Dirk Nowitzski in the flesh at the Peninsula Hotel and he was larger than life: LW jackets...
If I were to move forward with an Eastman, I would very likely go through HPA, given their responsiveness vs ELC's. Glad to hear satisfied customers chime in.
I totally agree with your philosophy as a seller/vendor. However, customers come in many shapes and sizes. Many people on this site have already purchased a dozen or more Eastman model jackets, for example, and have acquired a knowledge of fit, etc., which I'm sure they leverage when making...
As a fan of darker jackets myself, what you were able to accomplish is quite impressive. The top jacket wouldn't even get a second look from me, but the bottom jacket caught my eye and I actually spent the time to look more closely at the details.
Some pics of my new LW Leather Peacoat. Peacoats are my favorite jacket design so it's not surprising that my first purchase of a significant leather piece would also be a peacoat. LW quality is directly palpable: weight, smell, texture, 'feel', it has it all. The hide is a black elk, which...
