I caught the end of this one this evening. It's about FDR's fight with polio. From what I saw of it it looked pretty good. I liked the costumes especially. I was wondering if any of you have seen this film and what did you think of it?

As promised, my Pop circa 1951 in the woods outside of Heilbronn, Germany. My favorite photo of my Pop. If interested the camera he is holding is an Exacta VX made in the USSR Occupied Germany. It's still working to this day.
Cheers!

Great photos folks! I'll have to see if I can scare up a few of my Pop. He rarely ever wore a hat but I have one shot of him in the Army around 1951 that is my favorite picture of him. I'll try and post that tonight.
Cheers!

Yeah, I've picked a couple up at our local Boot Barn. They refer to them as hat retainers, but hat stretcher & hat jack are appropriate as well.
If you want to stretch it to fit your head here is what I do.
I first steam the stretcher to warm it up and moisten it a bit. Then I steam the...
I had picked up one of those black panzer numbers from an ebay store (I think they're in Hong Kong or Singapore) back this last winter. No bad comments but plenty of compliments. It looked good and really kept the noggin warm. Thanks to BT and his Adventure Wear photos for the Alpine Hiking...
Ken's a Daddy again!!
Congratulations to Ken & his wife on the birth of JJ junior!!:) The new adventures begin again for him. ;)
For those that are interested be sure to PM or e-mail Ken, he may be out of pocket for a few days now but he will get back to you. I'm just not sure how soon...
I have two Camptowns & I couldn't be happier with them. Here are a few shots ofn my Metropolitan.
I did mine in a Raiders bash but since it is a hat that is easy to shape you could do a Winchester or c crown or even a telescope for a zoot hat.
Here is another thread on the...
If worse comes to worse try a 5% dilution of Hydrogen Peroxyde on it. It won't damage the straw at all and has been a recommended method of cleaning per the Scientific Hat Refurbishing books that has been around for a long time now (1919). Hope all comes out well.
Cheers!

Hat samples...
Here is a shot of the new samples Ken got. They're not as yellow as they appear though, darn flourescent lighting.

These do look promising. I'm thinking a super dark brown ribbon & bow would compliment this very well. What say you...
Did anybody notice the blatant allusion to the space craft in the very beginning of the film before they got to the flying saucer cafe? There are no accidents. ;)
Cheers!

I know what you mean, but it sure does make it irresistable. I know I'll probably get a couple. If all works out right, Ken may be offering a straw version of the 1957 Legend. It's in the revewing stages right now to find the right straw body for the project, but it does sound nice. Lets keep...
A brown, very natural straw may be closer...
Well, there appears to be some good news on the dark brown straw front. I was just speaking with Ken this evening about some samples that he received recently. It's a coarser weave dark brown straw. Judging by the conversation it sounds very similar...
