For sale: Original 2-panel, named irvin jacket by links (1939)

You're not the only one Paddy... It's a beauty, but I'm storing up contingency funds as I've had some very bad news in the family so sadly it has to go. Still, it was the fulfilment of a childhood dream growing up with dreams of Spitfires, Hurricanes and the RAF and I've really enjoyed wearing...

Found A-2 while vintage shopping NYC

Up to now, the Perry Sportswear contracts have been the only ones that I've seen with offset hangers - the Roughwear is a new one on me!

Found A-2 while vintage shopping NYC

Having said that, I've owned four original Perry Sportswear A-2s (and seen a number of others in both horsehide and goat) with an offset hanger, just like this Roughwear. I too thought that this was simply a QC issue, but the odds were stacking (in the case of the Perrys), although I can't...

Found A-2 while vintage shopping NYC

No, the asymmetry is more than simply a case of torn lining - if you look at the rear shot (collar stand and hanger stitching) the positioning is very clear.

A would be a shame if this is the case as the Baron is correct about the prognosis. However, on the plus side you'd have a desirable feature (in the Crown zip) that would recoup some money.

    Will Aero do alterations?

Hi Scott Did I talk?! You betcha mate... Yes after sending it back, and discussing it at length, Will bought it from me as the resulting sleeve was too short to rectify. I was incredibly annoyed at the original outcome, which had been really unexpected, but appreciated that Will did the decent...

    Will Aero do alterations?

In contrast, I sent my ELC A-1 to Aero for sleeve shortening and it came back ruined - with one sleeve markedly shorter than the other. If it's a cherished jacket, I'd think hard before you send for alterations.

    Goodwear / Aero

My advice, having owned Good Wear and multiple ELC jackets is to hunt around for a used Good Wear on EBay or buy from one of the many who put the money down on a Good Wear, wait many months and then frequently sell fairly quickly (before starting the process again). Given the long wait, some...

Any opinions on "Excelled" as a knock around A2?

Sounds like an escape jacket to me - wasn't that the technique used in Oflag VIIB?!
