My earliest 'still in rotation' jacket is also from when I was 16. I guess it makes sense. By that point most of us are essentially the size we're going to be, so if it's something solid there's no reason you'd get rid of it.
The "only to realize that I already own" thing happens to me more...
That's why I'm saying put the fear of God in them!
Being an honest merchant is an act of worship. If you're scamming people that's not a separate life from the one you're praying in!
Honestly I would put the fear of God in them a bit.
Not only is fraud categorically prohibited in Islam, the practice of deceptively selling a garment is explicitly called out.
I would send them this and point out that faking a measurement is a modern form of that exact prohibited...
Schott's Chromexcel belts are very well made and have great buckle hardware. The caveat is theydon't follow the usual belt sizing rule (jeans waist + 2). If you do, the belt will be way too big. So order the size that matches your jeans waist size.

I own a prototype of a Schott repro of this Perfecto, except with a miter belt buckle. I...
Looking at the label of the 30s jacket, I find the "Horsehide Pony Weight" phrasing interesting, considering our recent discussion of "What does ponyhide mean?"
Maybe some makers used it as a weight indicator rather than an actual animal age indicator like calf/lamb?
I couldn't find a specific thread on this topic, though I saw several adjacent. I figured it was appropriate to have one because this is definitely one of the pieces to this history.
It's well known that Beck had jackets made by Schott, some of which were available under a different model name...
Even though the jacket was too snug zipped on me, I was blown away by how good the length was. Fits you perfectly.
Between this, some other vintage, and old ads I've seen here I think some of our server pronouncements about jacket length are off. Like I used to think in terms of any back length...
I have horsehide (from reputable makers) that looks identical. I'm in the camp where it's ambiguous short of a DNA test (which Gary Eastman had to do), unless our microscope using new member figures something out.
Not just get away; I think they (including their cross-zip versions) demand a wider hem (compared to a motorcycle jacket or something) to look right with the hourglass shape.
