IRVIN NUTS?...the ULTIMATE thread for those who love 'em!

Thanks for the kind words chaps! It is a lovely jacket, and it fits a treat, just seems such an extravagence having a lot of dosh tied up in a jacket that rarely comes out... I know, a jacket like this needs an easy retirement - the occasional airing on a nice winters day, a coat of...

Womens Leather Jerkin, as issued to A.T.S. during WW2

Just listed on ebay. I bought this recently, it was listed as a gerkin so didn't get many hits. Didn't realise until it turned up that it is actual they type issued to women of the Auxillery Territorial Service during the Second World War. This is the later economy pattern without the half...

What sort of flight jacket weather are you having these days..?

I imagine it's like setting off a distress flare at sea, as soon as you put it up Air Sea Rescue are alerted and all of a sudden you've got a Supermarine Walrus flying overhead...

What sort of flight jacket weather are you having these days..?

Very blustery today in Southampton! Cycling over the Itchen Bridge the headwind stopped me right in my tracks! Had to walk...:rage: Been wearing my funny deck jacket/B15 lately, now I've put a new zip in it. Bit too warm for the Irvin, but hopefully that'll change over the weekend ;)

IRVIN NUTS?...the ULTIMATE thread for those who love 'em!

Great film! Even with the radically speeded up trucks :D My Grandfather wore his Irvin after the war on his milk float round... I can't think of more different extremes! That jacket went from bombing missions over Germany, to delivering milk around Kingstanding, Brum...

Another beat up old flying jacket... (early G-1 this time)

last ones...! Slightly different construction of the underarm. The side seam ends in the middle of the bottom of the sleeve on the Brill. On the Pritzker it's further round the back... Does that make sense?

Another beat up old flying jacket... (early G-1 this time)

Wind flap and inside pocket The inside of the Brill pocket is the same material as the liner, the Pritzker is white cotton drill.

Another beat up old flying jacket... (early G-1 this time)

Pockets... The differences are subtle. The Pritzker is noticably smaller though. Pritzker Brill Bros

Another beat up old flying jacket... (early G-1 this time)

Some comparison photos... Took some photos this morning with some good natural light, to show some of the style differences between the Pritzker and my later Brill Bros G-1. The collars... The Pritzker has a very different shape, much more angular and pointed. I thought it may have been...
