Interesting. There's a lot more information out now than
there was a couple of years ago, when I last Googled it.
This seems to be the organization (same logo):

But you can't get to any info without logging in.
As for the queer contest, I'm all for 10...
Heh. It's about 42" x 32" in the frame (which doesn't add much).
The problem with framed art is that it's hard to get back
the cost of a frame. But more to the point, I love that poster.
Even more relevant, my partner likes it, and not many other
hat-related items I have.
It's not...
The Camp-Fire Club of America Gold Button
Anyone know more about the Camp-Fire Club of America?
Apologies for the large image, but there's a lot of detail.
I received this pin mounted to the front of the crown of this hat:
I'd complain, but the pin is 14K gold and kind of...
Posted a pic with flash in the Golden Era Stratoliner thread
This is a large promotional poster, apparently backed on the original
cardboard. I had it framed. This no flash image does have the
reflection of my hall light, which arguably gives a better sense
of scale.
Should this be here or in the Hats thread on Stetson stuff?
I'll put a different picture in each: one with flash and one without.
This is a large, original promotional poster, on what appears to
be original cardboard backing. I had it framed.
My three watches
From left to right:
Vulcain Cricket manual alarm watch (1940s?)
Omega Seamaster automatic (late 1950s to early 1960s?)
Lord Elgin manual "digital", 1950s.
The Vulcain Cricket is a very handy watch.
It's the ultimate travel alarm. Plus it is a mechanical
alarm...
Where I saw 'em, people chew on nutrias. And I gotta say
the one I saw looked like a rolling mudball. They move fast
when there are gators in the water.
As the tearer of that hat, let me add a few points.
First, sweatbands don't always tear in the process of stretching.
I believe I failed to treat the band with Lexol or similar leather
treatment before stretching.
But more to the point, that sweatband, and, it appears, yours
is perfectly...
I thought the hats with the Chestnut St address on the sweat had
stamped dates on the inside of the sweat? I guess not all of them.
Am I confused, or is that a picture of a beaver with
the words, "Made of real nutria fur"?
Great hat box, BTW!
Thanks for the photos!
I agree. And I have a Stetson 3X (Mode Edge) of
around the same vintage (same liner and logo).
At first I didn't tumble to its quality. Now I realize
it is a truly remarkable hat. Those 3 Xs are superior
to any Xs you find around these days! A superior felt. Enjoy.
Carter, that Stetson Nutria is quite a sight. Since it carries
the Chestnut St address, does it have a date of manufacture
on the inside of the sweatband? Any chance of a close-up
of that liner logo?
Thanks for showing that collection.
Still curious what people wear with their...
I was watching that one. But when they say "Never Worn"
and you can see the sweatband is all but shot and there are
indentations in the crown... I run away. Probably a great hat,
but I am more risk averse these days.
