I don't know....I know Some here have had the "Beaver" 25's and 50's and were not impressed.....I know Brent got one of those recently...and I have handled those myself and the 25's especially were cardboard.....the 50 was not good either....I would take a vintage 3X over them every time!
Good...
Now....not to burst your bubble.....but....a Stetson "Beaver 100" is NOT the same as a regular Stetson 100.......you may wish to consult with Brent on this one.....these seem to be made right around the Stetson buyout around 1970 or so ..... Perhaps even after as this is a designation other...
You have a nice old one there!!!!! They DID sell some with a wider ribbon during this time.....that would cover the leather stains............look under the Stockman-Farmer catalog threads for examples.......or just slip one of those nice beaded bands over it. This one would date to the late...
Nice story on the Cow Lot here: https://thecowlot.com/our-story/
Cool story about Nat Flemming and his dream!!! It was re-opened in 2013 with new people.
Well if your Beaver 25 is a good one I should think this one will be too......
Thanks for letting me know!!!
It seems you just never know...
I am waiting to see just what a "Beaver 50" iso_O.....seller said it is soft and NOT stiff;)....We shall see.....crown is a little low but it has a 2 3/4 brim.....it is an OR clone.......Privately labeled on sweat & liner "The Cow Lot"....no idea who made this one....o_O
we shall...
Date on that one is a bit of a conundrum....the sweat style and liner definitely (especially the liner) point to late 50's EARLY 60's. The sweat stamp and size tag point to mid-50's....o_O
As for center dent and pinches, THAT is how the Strat was introduced and worn over here too!!! :DUnlike...
No, did not have to.....that was what made this hat such a good candidate. All I had to do was bring the crown back to open and re-flange the brim. This line of Dobbs felt, while it has a good soft hand and feel, is much thicker than I like.....making it much harder to work with. I am not...
Well, it was part of my extra fine and awesome "hat gang" for a while.............perhaps the other hats allowed it to wear their mark........that Marathon IS an awesome hat you know!;)
M:)
Not much done.....it is (was) a new production Dobbs homburg.......when I saw it I bought it with the express intent to turn it into a snap brim fedora. I think it works much better now, and is much more versatile, especially with the 2 5/8 brim! Did not take picture of before......
M;)
Well, I have made a few creases like it.....I had not really thought about it, but someone here noted it looked like a question mark too...(on one of my other hats)......and well......yes it does!
And for me too.......it is appropriate!;)
