Teardrop is just the style of crease. When one picks up a hat by the crown crease, and dons it, the hat has a tendency to lean to the side of the hand it was place on with, same for this "slightly crooked" look you are referring to.

I'll have to research up the Water Edge, sounds interesting. I really like the treatment it adds to the brim. I wish it had the origin ribbon, I'll give it some "shim" and see how I like it. Tried giving it to the old man, and well, that's another story haha. His some is more 7 3/4 territory...
