Recently I was fortunate to add a Dove Grey Demon Hanover fedora made in Danbury Connecticut to my collection. While there are some moth nibbles in a few spots there is nothing that would stop me from wearing and enjoying this hat.
Thanks for the details !! Here's pix of all the labels I could find under the sweatband but I don't know what to look for.
* I've still got a spot reserved for a Mac in my collection...one of these days !
Yes, I feel like I hit the lottery or something ! I've been searching for BOTH of these hats for a year or more and had almost given up hope of finding either.
Argh !! Foiled once again by the USPS ground Advantage service. Hat made it from Kingsport, Tennessee to Louisville, Kentucky where it is just a short hop to my little town. For whatever reason USPS decided to then send my hat on to Mobile, Alabama !! WTF !!!
This morning I'm proud to show y'all one of my latest acquisitions. Much like yesterday's hat, this is another of those " rare as hens' teeth" hats that I felt lucky to find. Demon Hanover made by Hoyt Hat Company in Danbury, Connecticut. There are some moth nibbles here & there but nothing...
Thanks for the picture. I'm certainly NO expert in these matters, but I don't think you got a Playboy there mostly due to fact there are no markings on the liner or the sweatband indicating Playboy . Still a good looking lid !
Thanks Mark. Just so happens I was lucky enough to stumble onto it the very same day that I found the other "holy grail" hat I mentioned to you earlier.
* still waiting on that one to arrive
Good looking hat Rick. I can hardly wait to see what you do with it !
* I was surprised how much weight those buffalo head nickels added to my Gambler but don't regret the choice one tiny bit.
First off let me thank everyone who contributes to this forum. Such a wealth of knowledge about these old hats that amazes me all the time ! Until I dropped in here a couple years ago I had no idea Stephen L. Stetson manufactured hats or that the John B Stetson company sued for copyright...
This morning I'm sporting one of my very first vintage hats. Royal Quality Stetson Downs model in Cordova color with beaded hatband complete with rattlesnake rattler.
Never one to disappoint, your hat is marvelous !!
I love the velvety look of the felt and you always have a mischievous grin on your face that makes my day !!
