I have a 42 inch chest and 33 inch waist and Johnsons stuff fits off the rack for me at 42. However, I've ordered three custom pieces from them so go figure. My arms are shorter than their off the rack though so it all depends. The upcharge on custom is so small you might as well do it for a...
Looking forward to it myself. It will be very light for a motorcycle jacket, since it's kangaroo. I'll have armor in the shoulders, elbows and back while riding, but if I ever want to wear it casually, I can just pull the armor out, and it will be a very light jacket, not a 5+ lbs heavy...
I'm in town speaking at a conference, so I took the opportunity to have my Elk jacket taken in a bit in the back and sides. Also ordered a custom motorcycle jacket in black Kangaroo with armor. Alan took the time to show me his business, some of the custom jackets he's working on, and share...
I've seen some nice Lewis Leathers jackets on TFL, and as I am getting a Triumph Bonneville T100 in a few weeks, I was toying with the idea of staying 'British' and procuring a motorcycle jacket from Lewis Leathers. I like the Dominator and Roadmaster. From a fit perspective, does Lewis work...
Those jeans look pretty low rise. Have you tried wearing the jacket with some high rise trousers? If you decide to keep the jacket, wearing higher rise pants might limit the impact of the jacket being/appearing too short.
As an eBay seller, I think it makes sense to only accept bids from people with a minimal number of bids and/or minimal feedback score, especially for any item that sells for more than $100. Looking at the bidding history for this particular auction, it appears that a '0' feedback bidder bid on...
Perhaps this has already been said, but the key to long term comfort is 'fit.' If your shoes fit extremely well, even leather soled balmorals will be comfortable all day (in my experience). That said, walking long distances creates different challenges and many of the recommendations already...
Not having the jacket in hand, it's hard to be sure where the mustiness is coming from but chances are it's the liner. Is the smell more obvious when smelling the jacket from the liner side or the outside? If it's the liner, having it replaced while cleaning the leather currently covered by...
This tells me that YOU care, and you are likely not going to let it go, regardless of how others on this forum respond. It sounds like you paid for a 5 star experience, and perhaps feel like you only got a 4 star one. I stayed at a 5 star hotel once and one of the employees was rude to my...
Another option is to get a custom motorcycle jacket from Johnson Leathers. You can pick your style, your leather and your measurements against a 'test jacket' and get things customized to fit your frame. Depending on what you choose, you could probably get something in the $650-$800 range that...
A leather jacket without a lining may be subject to higher quality construction standards, given that you can see all of the seams, etc., so more care has to be put into the finishing, since it is exposed. At least that holds true with tailored wool clothing.
I like the Enfield styling, but that particular model favors guys with narrower shoulders. If you do have narrower shoulders, e.g. 40" chest and 18" shoulders point to point (or less), then I think that the jacket works well.
