Took a chance on an eBay Langlitz Cascade

Hidden pads adds $150 to the cost of the jacket. So you really have to want them hidden. I prefer it.

Took a chance on an eBay Langlitz Cascade

I just ordered a Columbia with the hidden pads, no diamond stitching option. Cossack collar, but with a chest pocket. Pure riding jacket.

Life with ONE great Leather Jacket vs. Life with MANY Leather Jackets

Per quantum physics, the act of counting chocolate chips in the cookie breaks the cookie into crumbly pieces...so you're left eating cookie crumbs, not cookies.

Life with ONE great Leather Jacket vs. Life with MANY Leather Jackets

1 short leather jacket, 1 3/4 leather jacket, 1 spring/summer motorcycle jacket, 1 fall/winter motorcycle jacket, 1 city leather jacket, 1 country leather jacket. Up to 6, so 4-6 is probably ideal.

A2 Patches and their Proper Location on a Jacket

I thought I'd tap into the knowledge of this forum re: A2's and patches. My wife's grandfather flew in WWII: 15th AAF / 82nd Fighter Group / 97th Fighter Squadron. Assuming there was a patch for each of the designations, where would I place them on the jacket? I assume the 97th Fighter...

Windflap Added to my Johnson Leathers Bomber Jacket

Very nice, V. Another great Johnsons jacket. I always get a windflap on straight zip jackets for riding....great feature and necessary at speed. Oh, and the knit really personalizes the jacket...nice touch!

Possible sticky -how to measure a jacket

The referenced sleeve measurement approach will yield spotty results if the shoulder width isn't taken into account. I have sleeves measuring 24-25.5 measured in the correct way that fall exactly to the same point above the wrist. Better to measure it like a dress shirt.

    Alexander leather sleeve length

When measuring sleeves, it should be done the same way a dress shirt sleeve is measured: From the center of the back, shoulder, then down the side, bent elbow to the wrist. Reason: Shoulder width has an impact: A jacket with a 18.5 shoulder will likely have a different effective sleeve...

Looking for info on jacket materials/components

For bicycle riding, I wouldn't wear any of my leather jackets: a lighter textile jacket makes more sense to me: less weight, waterproof, windproof, more visible, etc. I do a lot of mountain biking in the Spring/Summer and plenty of riding during the Fall, and not once have I ever...

Looking for info on jacket materials/components

Very common in jackets. You can have a rayon lining against the leather, and a zip out thinsulate layer over it. Like this: http://ryanishungry.com/ebay/ebay517/1_wilsons_trench/8.jpg

Something old (ish) - 10 months in AL Simmons Bilt

I love the jacket at this link. 3-ply merino knits, horn buttons, etc. Looks great.

Looking for info on jacket materials/components

You may want to consider a zip in/out Thinsulate lining. This could extend the use of your jacket to warmer days by zipping out the liner; alternatively extend the use by allowing you to wear it on colder days by zipping in the liner.
