Bought this jacket from eBay a while ago, but it is too long in the body and sleeves for me to wear. Almost new condition, horsehide is still stiff and could use some breaking in, etc. Thought someone on the Forum might be interested.
Measurements, etc., are included in the eBay...
Regarding Langlitz as not being slim enough, that may be true in the used market but you can get a new one from them measured perfectly for your dimensions. I have a 42.5 chest and 32 waist and my jackets from them fit perfectly: there is nothing roomy about them.
If you're wearing an armored shirt already I recommend a kangaroo cafe racer. When worn sans armor it's very light and great for casual wear. But on the bike, it has much better abrasion protection than cow and twice as good as goat. Just a question of what jacket attributes matter the most...
I have a jacket that is black on the outside and brown rough out (suede) on the inside with no liner. Very comfortable and not difficult to take on/off, etc. It's not a tight fitting jacket, so that helps. I like it; I use it like a windbreaker.
Thanks for the interest, Bunyip. I did put up a thread on it earlier: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?81326-New-Langlitz-Columbia-in-Black-Goatskin
My tolerance for heat must be pretty high. I can wear leather up to about 80 degrees comfortably. If I'm on my bike, I've gone up to 85. Sweet spot is between 50-75 for me. Anything lower I prefer to wear wool with or without layers.
If you're getting it for riding, I recommend going for the Forcefield NeT Upgrade Armor. It's thinner than the traditional and molds better. Given the lighter weight of the Roo and the thinner hide, this armor works better IMHO. It's less noticeable while on also.
For motorcycle riders you want a layer of leather under any metal. If you fell and scraped your arm, without the leather beneath the metal, the zipper can heat up and burn you. If the jacket is for show and not for riding, then it's not needed.
Comet standard measurements, from Vanson's site:

So for a size 40, 20" front and 22.5" back. That is a short style. I think this may be the reason Thurston offers special models/longer versions.
